(A/N):
GUESS WHO'S BACK SUCKERS?!?!?! *clears throat* Sorry, that was uncalled for. But hey, I am back! I'm sorry I had sort of a... writing flop.
But I'm done with school now so I should have more time for my story. Should.
Anyways, here is the long expected next chapter!
**Warning feels ahead**
~
I try not to groan as the plane lands, rubbing my stomach. I peer from the cracked door as Tucker and Cody step out onto the street in the dark of night. I follow them, careful not to make any noise. They still think I'm back at the house. I can't let them know I'm here.
They walk down the familiar street. I recognize a particular tree as the one kids were gathered around smoking when Cody and I had our first stake out. I look ahead, seeing Cody disappear into thin air. He can't take all these guys alone, I tell myself. Sure, Tucker will be there to help, but he still isn't acting right. He'll be distracted during the fight.
It only makes sense that I come. I limp behind them from a few yards away. I have to help.
"Are you sure this is what Cody will want?" Reil whispers and I jump. I remember asking her to come with me. Not because I like her, but because she would be in a better condition to fight.
"Oh my gosh," I let out a breath through gritted teeth. "I forgot you were here."
"How did you forget I am here? You are the one that asked me to come along in your attempts to devastate Cody's plan."
I roll my eyes. "We're not ruining Cody's plans. He never said that we weren't supposed to come."
"Yes, he did."
"Okay, but they need help and you know Tucker isn't acting right—"
"And somebody not acting according to their personality gives us the right to disobey what Cody instructed us to do based on hypothetical thinking?"
"Reil, shut up and follow me." I turn, limping back down the street. "And for goodness' sake, be quiet. The entire street is going to know we're coming if you keep yammering on like that."
"You're the one who appears to be yammering right now."
"Just," I bite back a groan. "Shut up and keep walking."
Reil falls silent, but I feel like she won this round. Come on, Christina, pull your act together.
I follow Tucker down the dark street. He walks slower and slower the further he goes. He wrings his hands behind his back and even though I'm far away, I can tell how nervous he is. Reil tiptoes beside me, grabbing my arm whenever I trip. Even though I've had several boring days to rest, I still find my legs trembling as I walk. I'm not telling her I'm glad she caught me. That would be weird.
But Reil grabs my arm, even though I don't trip. "Shh," She hisses. The way her eyes narrow into slits makes me fall silent as she looks around. "Somebody is following us."
My breath catches in my throat. "I don't see anybody," I whisper. "Are you sure?"
Reil scowls at me and nods, pulling her sword out. "Of course I am sure. Now silence they blabbering tongue and let me listen."
I stick my tongue out at her, but stay silent. I peer around the street.
Reil grabs my wrist and pulls me behind her so I could use her as a shield. Before I can bicker at her for jerking me like that, I hear a quiet shout. "Don't stab me!"
