*Pokes head in*

Hello?

*Walks out onto empty stage*

Anybody there?

*Crickets chirping*

Great. This is wonderful.

*Taps mic*

To all my imaginary peeps reading this: I AM SO SORRY I HAVEN'T UPDATED IN FOREVER AND A DAY!!!!! I don't really have a good excuse this time. Sure, I was at Church Camp for two weeks, but I haven't updated in like a month or two. For that I apologize.

Whew, now that I've gotten that out of the way, you can actually read the next (really short) chapter. I will try (emphasis on the try) to update again some time today, but we'll see XP

The street looks like a ghost town. Parked in the middle of the street are cars, some with doors open and still running. There's movement from a few buildings of people shutting blinds as we pass. I shiver, hugging my arms to shield from the chilly air.

"The energy readings are getting crazier," Abby whispers. She taps a tablet she brought with her from the McAlister. "Reil is a few blocks away."

"We don't know what Reil is planning," Cody says. "Be careful. I imagine she'll be hostile."

"Especially if you insult her spelling," Tucker adds.

Cameron rolls his eyes.

I swallow hard, my heart racing. Don't freak out, I tell myself as we round the block. My worry gets distracted when I recognize the beauty in front of me, but it was hard to forget the flawless, golden hair and the angelic face. Eyes shut, Goldilocks' lips move as she murmured under her breath. Her hands stretch out to a green light that grows in front of her, growing as it projected a hazy picture of a forest

Reil steps from behind her, a frown on her lips and sword in hand. "You have figured out my riddle already? Surprising," She spun the blade around, testing it.

"Your grammar is horrible," Tucker shrugs with his arms crossed over his chest. "I know I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I would think you had enough sense to spell things right."

She gives him a glare. "A man who speaks before thinking usually ends up dead. Especially when he's speaking to one so powerful such as I."

"Stop Reil and don't let Goldilocks finish whatever she's doing." Cody orders, then disappears.

I clench my fists, fire enveloping them. Common sense tells me I should be running away, but I run forward, lobbing a fireball at Reil. Reil side steps and grabs Goldilocks' arm, moving her aside so the fire misses her. She doesn't even notice she was moved.

Reil charges at me, swinging her sword to behead me. I duck aside and start to shoot her again, but something tells me not to. When I lower my hands, Tucker hurls a water ball, knocking the blade from Reil's hand. She pulls her bow out, pulling an arrow back. Seeing that she isn't pointing it at me or Tucker, I look over and see Cameron pulling Abby back behind a car. Reil lets the arrow go and I let instinct guide me, reaching out.

When I look at my clenched fist, I realize I had grabbed the arrow before it was shot. Reil and I look at each other, but she doesn't mirror the surprise that I have. Her elbow snaps up to hit me and I manage to scramble back before she breaks my jaw. She whirls around, swinging her foot. I thought she would hit me, but I hear Cody grunt, appearing as he falls away from Goldilocks.
