Chapter 6: Tracking some Hobbits

I yanked the reins back on the horse, making it rear onto it’s back legs, and giving the Hobbits enough time to roll out of the way.

They couldn’t see our faces though, and darted off to the forests edge.

I jumped off the still moving horse, tossing Boromir the reins, and raced after them into the forest.

Suddenly I heard a funny, scuffling noise.I spun around to see a very ugly Orc racing at me with it’s weapon raised. I unsheathed my sword and blocked it’s blow, but I couldn’t swing my sword properly because of my ribcage.

The Orc brought the blade that it was using down, and I just managed to dodge the blow. It swiped the blade back up, and cut my upper arm. All I could do was hope that it hadn’t been poisoned.

‘Fred, can you help me out?’ – I called into my head.

Fred sounded panicked, ‘I can’t do anything! I can’t move!’

I spun around, lashing out a kick at the Orc.

The Orc dodged, and swiped back at me. I backed into a tree. There was no where for me to go now. I was trapped. The Orc knocked my sword from by hands, and I didn’t have any other weapons on me. I waited for death, knowing that it was approaching.

Suddenly the Orc’s eyes bugged out of it’s head, and it slumped forward onto the ground.

I looked behind it. Boromir was standing there, with his sword stuck in the Orc’s back.

“Thanks!” – I told Boromir as I grabbed my sword off the ground.

“No problem!” – he said, “Now lets find those Hobbits!”

The forest was dark, darker then any forest that I had every seen. The canopy of tree’s was so tightly knit that it was like a ceiling – with leaf patterns.

The Hobbits were pretty easy to track, as they left scuff marks when they ran. Soon though I didn’t feel like we knew where we were going.

“Can we find them?” – I asked Boromir, who was crouching at the bottom of a tree.

“I don’t know!” – Boromir sounded frustrated, so I walked over to where he was.

He pointed to where the scuff marks just disappeared, “The trail is just gone!”

“Could they have climbed the tree?” – I asked Boromir, glancing up into the huge branches.

“I don’t think so…..” – he trailed off, glancing upwards to.

“Pippin, Merry!” – I called. “It’s Ravera and Boromir! Do you hear me?”

There was no response.

Suddenly I heard an odd sound. Sort of like the sound a tree makes in a wind storm. A bit like a groan.

“What was-“ – I had been just about to ask Boromir what that sound was, but I was hoisted up by one foot off the ground.
