Here is my attempt at a request that I got through tumblr.

The prompt was a/u Jai breaking the OFC's heart and some how, coming back to try and make it right so they had a shot at their happy ending.

"I hate you!" She shouted at him, her hands balled into fists pounding on his chest. "Get out." she demanded.

"Stop it!" He demanded, grabbing her hands in an attempt to stop the assault. "Stop it, for fucks sake." He snarled at her. "Get your shit together, will you, Bridie?"

"I told you that I didn't want to see you, Jai." She huffed at him. Her eyes were red from previous crying, etched with dark circles underneath from the lack of sleep she had endured.

Three weeks ago, he had told her that he wasn't into it anymore. It being their life together. Four years! Four whole years she had wasted on him. Meeting Dr. Courtney on her first day of residency, fresh out of med school, she had been captivated by his charm and easy on the eyes looks.

Dr. Jai Courtney was a man of reputation, everybody knew who he was, and everybody always sought his attention. When he had decided she was the one worthy of his time at work and away, it had made her feel special. Jai had always made her feel special.

Which is why it had been so sudden and devastating when he had told her that he didn't think they were working out.

Funny, because a month before, he had asked her to fucking marry him. Like a love struck school girl, Bridie had said yes; believing that they were really in love and they were going to last forever.

"Yeah well, people say a lot of shit they don't mean." Jai loosened his grip on her arms. "Can we talk, like normal people?" his steel blue eyes were locked on her.

No!

Bridie had no intentions of talking to him about anything. When he had showed up at her friend's apartment, her first instinct was to lock him out and pretend she wasn't around. Damn him for being smart, when she had asked who was at the door, he'd slightly changed his voice and told her it was a delivery for her best friend and owner of the apartment.

"Just talk to me, please." Jai wasn't one to beg or plead. He would ask her once, maybe twice, and then he'd move on with his business.

He was a busy man and he had no time for games. His no bullshit attitude was what drove him to become the successful man he was. Nobody in the history of the hospital had ever made it on to the Board of Directors within the first two years of working there, but Jai Courtney had. He had clawed his way in after residency and had never stopped climbing the ladder.

"I don't want to talk to you." Bridie folded her arms over her chest, sniffling as the tears began to dry on her cheeks. "I don't want to see you, either."

It was bad enough that she had to see him at work, did he have to track her down during her only day off? He knew that during her days off, she liked to sleep as long as she could before spending what little free time she had curled up with a good book, or painting.

Jai used to tease her for the insane marathons of sleep that she would embark on during her only day off. When they were together, he would always wake hours before her, closer to the time he knew she'd be awake he would make her favourite tea and sneak it into her bedside table for when she woke.

He used to tell her that he could sit for hours and watch her doze. When most people would take that as a creepy tendency, she had always thought it was one of the sweetest qualities Jai held. He was happy to be near her, even if it meant hanging out while she snored away.
