Another tumblr prompt. I have a few more of these to go. This one was: "I'm laughing because you're angry. I swear I didn't do it!"

-----------------------

"Hornet." Eric's voice was firm as he walked around her to sit at his desk. Settling in at the metal desk with glass top, he cleared his throat and shuffled some papers.

He was dragging this out longer than need be. Whatever the punishment, he could hand it over and send her on her merry way. Unsure of why she was being summoned to his office, she stood quietly waiting for her moment to speak, if that moment ever came.

"What am I going to do with you?" Eric muttered, glancing up at her in one of his infamous death stares. His pierced eyebrows shot up, expecting some sort of smart mouthed answer from her. "Hmm?"

"With all respect, Sir, I'm not even sure why I am here." She lowered her gaze to meet his. Scratching the side of her partly shaved hair, she smirked at him. "Did you finally have enough to me turning you down and decided to bring me in here to show me what a real asshole you can be?"

"Watch your trap, Hornet." Eric would only give her one warning before he made the punishment even worse. Folding his hands on the top of his desk, he slightly reclined in his chair. His steely eyes watching her, waiting for her to flinch or crack.

Hornet stood like a statue, the stupid smirk on her face. "Eric, why are we here? I've lived here my entire life. I know this place inside and out, but do you think I could be capable of the things they are saying?" She asked, her eyes wide.

She watched his adam's apple bob, between the towering black neck tattoos, he looked as though he was going to speak but reconsidered last second. Somebody had managed to do it and he was getting to the bottom of it. Whoever managed to get the fourteen dead fish into the vent of his apartment was clearly someone with the knowledge of the Dauntless compound. Somebody that would be clever enough. Somebody with a grudge against him.

It was no lie that she had been out to get Eric, who could blame her? He had made her life hell since he had become a leader here, all because she continuously refused his advances. At least Hornet had assumed that was his reasons.

"Oh fuck." She snickered, covering her mouth with the back of her hand. "You really believe him? Do you honestly believe Peter?" She was shaking her head, giggling at him.

"Stop! Stop it right now!" Eric sat straight up in his chair, his hand slapping the top of his desk. "My apartment has smelled like a fucking dock for a week and I know you did it!"

"Eric, I have no idea who stuffed dead fish into your air ducts, but it wasn't me. I've been on the wall all week. I came in yesterday, ask Max. Ask Anybody." Hornet couldn't help herself, the laughter came and it came hard and fast. The disgruntled look on Eric's face, it was priceless. She had heard the story and there was gossip that Peter her pinned it on her. Asshole, she'd get him later.

"Why do you find this funny? Why are you laughing? This is a violation of every code and rule in this faction!" Eric bellowed at her. His face was even redder and Hornet could imagine smoke coming from his ears, if she looked at him too long.

"I'm laughing because you're angry. I swear I didn't do it!" Hornet snorted, slowly bringing herself down from the hilarity of the situation. "I'm sorry, Eric. But fish? That's pretty good, I'm ashamed I didn't think of it."

"You're fucking hopeless." Eric snapped at her. Jabbing a finger in her direction, he seethed. "If I find out you did this, they'll be pulling your body from the chasm."

"Okay, Eric, calm down. Take a deep breath." Hornet giggled a little. "If it makes you happy, I can ask around. Maybe rough a few folks up and see what I can find."

"Do whatever you want." Eric grunted at her. "In the mean time, I'm staying with you and there will be no complaints."

"You hate me, don't you?" Hornet grumbled at him, her arms folding across her chest. Fucking Eric.
