Tess's POV

Midnight. Que celebrating. Que phone calls, texts. Que a day full of presents. A day full have having fun with your friends and family. But my family is dead, the ones I care about gone.

For me this is a day of drinking. A day of trying to forget things I always want to remember. A day I stay away from everyone. Happy 17th birthday to me.

I wake up next to Hayden. He has his arms wrapped around me and his head was snuggled into my neck. I have been staying at my parents house. Hayden has been staying with me, I think he knows it been hard to stay here alone. Especially after what happened.

I pulled out of Hayden's arms and made my way down to the liquor cabinet. Yesterday we packed it up pretty good. I had all my favorites then we put some of Hayden's favorites in there too. I didn't want to go to school today and believe me after a long argument with Hayden and John I'm being forced to go.

So I guess that I'm going to spend today with all the people in my life that I care about. Well everyone I care about that is still alive. However, Mason can't come today. His stupid school wouldn't let it because my bitch of a grandma called and told them he could leave until this weekend. I won't spending time with 'everyone' until Saturday and even then I'm not. Saturday I'm driving up to get Mason then we're going to go to Disney Land.

I know what you think it's stupid to go to Disney Land for my birthday but I'm going to. Mason has always wanted to go and I promised I would take him. He just doesn't know it yet. I have been saving up so that we could go, I wanted to surprise him. I'm doing this for him, not for my birthday.

I opened the cabinet closest to the sink pulling out a liquor glass. That's what my dad used to call them anyways and we weren't allowed to use them. I grabbed the first bottle that met my finger tips and took off the cap. I didn't even bother to look at what it was when I placed the lid back on and slipped it back in the cabinet.

I pressed the glass to my lips and drank as the liquor worked it's way down my throat. As soon as the drink hit my tounge I knew it was scotch. It didn't even burn going down my throat as I finished the glass. One down many more to go.

I was just about to down my second glass when I froze. I looked at the scene before me. No, not today. At least give me one day without all this. The body laid on the counter in front of me. The ribs exposed and half the skull had the skin pulled back. I almost wanted to puke at the horrid sight. It sat straight up and jumped off the counter stalking towards me. I was planted in my spot not willing to back down.

"Time is up for her, she's going to die you won't be able to stop it." The figure before me told me.

"Who the hell are you talking about!" I yelled. I'm getting so sick of this. Seeing this stuff, maybe I've finally gone crazy. Hell didn't my Grandma tell them to transfer me to the medical ward when I was in the hopstial? That was a total bitch move.

The thing smiled at me. "You will soon find out. You're time has almost come." The glass slipped through my hands and I cursed as it hit the ground shattering next to my foot. Before I could question the damn thing anymore it was gone.

Hayden ran down the steps with a shoe in his hand. He looked ridiculous and I couldn't help but laugh. He frowned and gave me a curious look.

"What's so funny?" He asked walking towards me.

"Watch out a glass broke and I'm laughing at you." I turned serious.

"Why would you be doing that?" He questioned.
