"I'm Maddie." I said introducing myself to the boy. "Ta-Taylor." He stuttered holding his hand out to me, I shook it and we sat awkwardly for a moment before I broke the silence.
"So how do you think we should put our to project together?" I asked, he shrugged and pulled on his sweatshirt sleeves.
"Alright, let's just forget about the project for now." I said and turn fully facing Taylor. "You new here?" I asked, immediately feeling stupid. Of course he's new here. This is an all freshman class.
"Uh yeah, I moved here from Indiana." Taylor said looking down at his hands. "Really?" I asked. "Yeah." We sat awkwardly, not knowing what else to say.
After art class I had History, witch is my favorite subject. I walked into the classroom and took a seat more to the middle of the room. I waited as all the kids stumbled into the classroom, finding seats next to their friends.
A tall guy walked into the classroom and scanned the room for an empty chair, we made quick and awkward eye contact. I looked down at the desk, hiding my face. He walked over to me and sat down in the empty seat to the left of me.
He didn't say anything to me he just took out a note book that was decorated with music note and flipped threw the papers.
We sat there awkwardly waiting for the teacher to come into the classroom and talk to us.
________
When the lunch bell finally rang and I was so relived. History was getting boring. Our teacher Mrs.Hendrick just let us sit and talk for the whole hour. I grabbed my book bag, swung it over my shoulder and ran out of the room.
I walked into the lunch room and looked around for anyone I knew so I wouldn't have to sit alone. I noticed Taylor standing in line with a tray of food, waiting to punch in his lunch number. Him being the only person I knew, I walked over to him.
"Hey Taylor." I said making him jump. "Oh uh hey." He said as his cheeks started to turn a light shade of pink. "Want to sit together?" I asked, nervously cracking my fingers. A sign of relief ran across his face as he smiled and nodded.
We both walked to an empty table, sitting across from each other. "How come you didn't get any food?" Taylor asked openings a ketchup packet. "Oh, I'm not really hungry." I said scratching at my wrist.
"So who are you living with?" I asked changing the topic. "Oh this guy Jake, I don't really know him though." He said taking a bite from his hamburger. A random guy with brown hair sat down next to Taylor and smiled at me.
"Hey there, names Cameron." This guy wasn't anything you would expect a normal high school boy to look like, maybe one from those really cheesy high school movies.
I could see Taylor starting to tense up as this Cameron guy was sitting rather close to him. "Im Maddie." I said a little unsure of what to do.
"So Maddie, me and my friends have an extra seat at our table if you would like to come over and sit with us." He offered while pouting over at a group of guys all sitting at a table watching us and laughing. I glanced at Taylor and he was looking in the opposite direction, avoiding eye contact.
"Cameron is it?" He nodded his head, still with the same smug look on his face. "I appreciate the offer, but no thanks. I would rather sit here with my friend." I said nicely and smiled at Taylor. "Wait wait wait, this loser is your friends." He asked trying to hold back a laugh.
I looked at Cameron in shocked. "Yes he is. Now I think you should go." I said annoyed. "Really? You know who I am right?" He asked. I shook my head. "No and frankly I don't want to." I said getting up as Taylor followed, grabbing the rest of his hamburger.
Taylor and I both had a free class after lunch so we were just walking around outside talking and getting to know each other.
"Take off the bandanna you fag!" So one yelled at Taylor. I quietly turned around and a tall guy with black hair and varsity jacket was laughing with his friend.
I looked back at Taylor and he was lifting his arms up to his head to untie his bandana. I grabbed his arm to stop him. He just looked at me, confused.
"Keep the bandanna on. It looks good on you." I said smiling. He nodded and smiled.
We sat on a grassy hill that looked over the football filed and we talked.
"Oh my god, Maddie is that you?" My heart stopped and I slowly turned my head. The last two people I ever wanted to see were standing there behind me holding hands.
"Oh my god. Maddie you have not changed a bit." Gabby said laughing with Jake.
"I guess since your still here, suicide still hasn't worked yet." Jake said with a smirk. I turned to Taylor and he looked confuse and shocked at what was going on. "Who this? This your boy toy for the week?" Gabby asked.
I could feel tears poking at the back of my eyes. I jumped up grabbing my bag sand storming away.
"Aww going to try to kill yourself again?" I heard Gabby ask as I walked away wiping the few tears that escape away. I heard some one running up behind me.
"Madison wait up." Taylor yelled running up beside me. "What Taylor?"
"Whats wrong why are you crying?"
He asked grabbing my arm, stopping me from walking away. "You probably think I'm a huge dork now?" I said whipping my eyes."No, Maddie your not a dork. Everyone cries. Who where those jerks anyways?" He asked "uh just some kids from my old school. Their no one." I said shaking my head.
