The Ball

Today was the big day. It is the day of the ball and I can't help but be utterly terrified. Literally nearly everyone from school is going to be there, all my friends, including Josh and Kevin. Tonight is big and I still haven't counted down all the ways I could screw it up. I had a dream last night about this whole thing. I went up on stage and everyone started pointing at me and laughing hysterically. I felt horrible, but then again I've felt worse before. Now that I have finally finished curling my hair I started putting on some makeup. I definitely was not planning on looking like a ghost under all the lights I would have on me later on.

I knew all too well that tonight was meant to be my night, but I couldn't get that stupid boy out of my god damn mind. All I could think of was him and how he left me waiting. I wish I didn't have to go tonight because I'm certainly not in the mood for it. I'll just have to get over my silly crush, if you could even call it one. Maybe I would feel better once I slipped into my dress. I don't need a boy to tell me I'm beautiful. I don't need to count on anyone tonight. Still, it would be nice to be called beautiful, to have someone take my hand and ask me to dance. Once I finished with my makeup I slipped into my dress and put on my trusty pair of heels.

''God I love this dress.'' I muttered as I glanced at myself in the mirror.

I packed my most needed things in my tiny purse and marched out of my room.

''Aus.'' I yelled.

''I'm nearly done.'' He called back.

I waited outside his bedroom door till he came out.

''So how do I look?'' he asked.

I cracked a smile.

''Wow.'' I joked.

''Shut up.'' He responded and walked past me.

''What?'' I laughed following him downstairs.

''You look different.'' I explained.

''Yeah, yeah.''

''Why are you even going to this thing anyway?'' I asked.

''Because Michael was going to ask Annie to go with him and I can't let that happen, she's mine!'' he complained.

''Ahh, drama..'' I muttered with a slight laugh.

''Is this the same Michael who took his pants off during assembly once?'' I asked.

''Yeah, but that was like 10 years ago Tay!'' he answered laughing.

''Yet, I still remember his tiny wiener.'' I joked nearly choking on my water.

''Anyway, so you're taking this Annie girl then?'' I added.

''Yeah.'' He responded.

Even my god damn brother has a date. I literally want to cry right now. Why didn't I ask Harry? I mean just as friends. Truthfully I don't want to go alone.

Once I finished my water I grabbed my bag and my guitar and Austin and I walked outside to my dad's car. Dad was impatiently waiting for us in the car.

''You look just like your mother.'' said dad as I slipped into the front seat next to him.

''You're so cheesy dad.'' I responded with a smile.

Once we got there Austin and I split and I went to one of the classrooms we were using as backstage to place my guitar.

As soon as I arrived, Lola, one of the girls I befriended during rehearsals came running up to me.

''I'm so nervous.'' she admit. Her face was very pale and she looked like she was on the verge of crying.
