‘’Bzzzzz’’ ‘’Bzzzzz’’

Stupid alarm again, It was a Saturday but this thing still rang at 7 o’clock sharp. On weekdays it was school on weekends it was pull the fucking alarm and throw it out the window.

‘’Taylor!!’’ mum yelled from downstairs.

‘’what mum??!!’’ I shouted back barely moving from under my warm comfy sheets.

‘'That stupid alarm off yours, put it off, you’re gonna wake your brother up and you know what I went through yesterday to get him to sleep, stupid allergies, had a blocked nose, didn’t want to sleep it off!’’ she complained.

I let out a giggle, this was a daily thing, sometimes I felt like my brother was some kind of 6 year old but he wasn’t, I was 16 and he was 14. I turned off the alarm and slept for a couple more hours. When I got up, Austin was in the kitchen doing his science homework, as I walked past him I let my hand ruffle through his straight floppy hair.

‘’eeeyyy’’ he yelped.

I think he was surprised by my sudden act.

‘’Hey darling’’ mum said with a smile as I took a seat next to Austin at the kitchen table.

‘’Morning’’ I said whilst rubbing my eyes.

‘’So do you have anything planned today dear?’’ asked mum.

‘’Uhm not that I know off, why?’’ I asked, she never asked me if I was busy usually I just slept till the afternoon or if I woke up earlier than that meant I was going out with Emma or Selena.

‘’Great, after you have your tea, there’s a broom and a dust pan right by the stairs, so knock yourself out’’ she said with a smile gesturing to where the cleaning stuff is.

‘’What? Mum! Why?’’ I asked suddenly surprised at what she just said, she didn’t usually tell me to do chores around the house, why was she asking me too?

‘’Because I have a bunch of stuff to do Taylor okay, I need help, your brother here is doing his homework, something you should do sometime and I know for sure you’re just gonna sit on the coach and stay on your laptop all day’’ she said, gesturing to my brother when she mentioned him and looking at me for the next of her ‘big’ speech.

‘’Ugh mum I’ve told you a million times my finals are over!’’ I complained.

‘’But you still have school on Monday!’’ she replied.

‘’Yeah, to take back the books they gave us in the beggining of the year! Dugh’’ I said putting my hands up in the air a little.

‘’Oh, alright, you win, but you’re still cleaning so chop chop, come on, when I was your age I went to school, went to mass every single day and cleaned my grandmothers house from top to bottom!’’ she said not realising I knew all of this already.

‘’Yeah, mum I know!’’ I said with a smile, as much as I hated cleaning I knew she was a little moody today from having to deal with my brother’s stupid allergies all night so I gave in realising that I should be the bigger and better person here and just help her out, after all she is my mother and I don’t want anything to happen to her.

I took a protein bar from one of the cabinets and ate it whilst I headed over to the closet where we kept the cleaning stuff, I didn’t find the broom or the dustpan.

‘’Near the stairs Taylor’’ mum said making me remember.

‘’Oh, right, forgot for a sec there’’ I laughed nervously not wanting her to realise I wasn’t putting my full attention on what she was saying before.

I spent the day cleaning, wow how adventorous right! This could have made some good stories to tell all my friends on Monday. Sunday wasn’t that good either, I slept in. Mum kept teasing me when I complained about being tired all day, ‘’see’’ she’d say, ‘’cleaning isn’t as easy as you thought it would be’’ I would roll my eyes at her, knowing how right she was. On Sunday afternoon I watched a couple of movies with my brother. They were doing a Harry Potter marathon on abc and considering how big of a nerd he was and how much he loved the serious I watched all the movies with him, at least I think they were all, I was starting to get really tired and my eyes kept getting redder from the t.v. ,at about 10 I headed to the bathroom and took a warm shower then I got into bed, getting into bed after a whole weekend was hard but I knew it was the last day of school the next day and it was the collection of books so after the librarians collected our books our year would just go and wonder about the school grounds making fun of ourselves, running in the corridors laughing and joking around. School wasn’t so bad, getting up was harder than school and the homework but other than that the whole 8 hours there actually were kinda nice, well sometimes.
