Chapter 23
I woke up to find someone calling my name.
I couldn't hear the voice well because everything seamed so far away. I slowly opend my eyes to find Jake looking down at me and my 'so called' mother next to him with a worried look on her face.
I sat up and glared at her with a look on my face that said 'you've got to be kidding me.'
She sighed and said "I know that this is a lot to take in Sarah but I really am your mother I promise you."
I continued to glare at her as I said "I don't believe you. You could be just pretending that you are just so you can gain my trust but I'm not that stupid so I don't believe you."
She sighed and said "I'm going to prove it to you weather you like it or not."
I was about to speak but Jake looked at me and said "Just listen to her please?"
I looked over at him and his eyes were pleading me to listen. I wanted to protest but he whispered to me in my ear and said "Please listen?"
I looked at him and nodded, knowing I couldn't bear to arugh with him.
I stood up, crossed my arms over my chest while looking over at this woman in front of me and said "So start talking."
She nodded and began speaking.
"When you were born, the news somehow got out the the Dark King and he ordered his servants to hunt you down and bring you to him. Your father was able to come up with a plan to lead them away from our house so I could get you out of there. Days have past and I didn't hear from your father at all, that's when I realized I had to get you out of town and out of the state. So I packed clothes for us and took off. Years passed and I somehow became pregnant with you little brother. So I gave birth to him and decided that I couldn't risk the King's servants to find you or you brother, so I had my sister and her husband look after you until I could come and get you. But I can see that I didn't have to because it looks like you already found your way to me.
She smiled at me and I couldn't help but smile back. But the next thing she asked almost made me cry.
"So where's your brother at?"
I sighed and said "The Dark Queen has him."
She had a confused look on her face as she asked "The Dark Queen?"
"Yea, I don't know who she is but all I know is that she wants me dead."
She sighed and said "Well that's just great, now I have to find out who this Dark Queen is."
I looked at my mother and said "Did dad die from the Dark King's servants? Did they kill him?"
She looked at me and said "I don't know. All I know is that we have to get your brother back."
I sighed and said "Mom your sister is dead."
She looked at me and said "WHAT?!"
My eyes went wide as I stood there looking at her.
"She was killed by the queen's guards, It's not my falt."
She turned around and walked back into the forest.
"Mom, please wait?" I asked.
But she didn't wait, she continued to walk into the trees without a second glance. I felt the urge to cry but Jake's voice soothed me.
"It's alright Sarah, she just needs to calm down."
I turned to look at him and felt the urge to hug him, so I turned into his body and wrapped my arms around his waist while his went behind my back to hold me close.
We were like that for a while until Jake finally said "Think maybe we should get back in case they're looking for us?"
I looked at him and said "Yea, guess we should."
He nodded and pulled me towards the woods.
All of a sudden there was a loud screeching sound and both Jake and I feel to the ground covering our ears.
The sound became unbearable and Jake and I ended up blacking out from the pain the sound left in our ears.
Chapter 24
I woke up to find myself back in the cabin on the couch. I looked around the room and found Jake on a bed that was placed on the other side of the room.
I jumped up but almost fell on my face when strong arms wrapped around my waist to help me with my balance.
I looked up to see Corey was the one to help me out. I smiled at him and said "Thanks Corey."
He nodded and let me go. It was silent for a couple minutes but he broke the silence by asking "Are you ok?"
I looked at him and said "I'm still kinda dizzy from that god awful sound, but other than that I'm good."
He looked at me for a moment then said "Alright well I think I'll leave you two alone for a little bit."
He turned and walked away and I turned to find Jake starring at me. I gave him a small smile and went beside him and asked "Are you ok?"
He nodded and said "Oh yea, I'm peachy. I just wish I knew what that sound was."
I smiled and said "Yea me too."
I felt him grab my hand as he said "Come lay beside me for a little bit."
I smiled and said "Alright just for a little bit, but if you try anything without my permission I will slap you got it?"
He chuckled without saying anything and I couldn't help but smile at him.
He scooted over and I layed next to him facing towards him. It was silent for a little bit then he said something that blew my mind.
"You know, I never thought that I'd have a girl in my life, one who is powerful but has a very kind heart."
I looked at him and said "You never had a girl in your life?"
"Well I did but no one like you. I mean your powerful and you have a very kind heart not to mention your very beautiful." he said as he reached over to stroke my cheek with his thumb.
I smiled at him and said "I've never had a boy in my life, one who's willing to protect me like you are."
He chuckled at that and said "Well I guess destiny wants us to be in each others lives then."
I smiled and said "I guess so."
We ended up talking for hours and at one point he wrapped his arm around my waist and I took comfort in that for some reason. We layed there and continued to talk.
It felt nice to be able to open up to Jake but it made me feel better having him close to me.
I don't know what time it was but we ended up falling asleep on that small bed and Jakes arm was still wrapped around me.
I decided to lay my head against his chest and we ended up falling asleep like that.
I thought that when I was next to Jake I wouldn't have any nightmares.
But I was wrong.
Way wrong.
Hey guys, here's chapters 23 and 24. I have finals coming up this week so I won't really be able to post this week. But i'll try to post maybe on Saturday if you guys want me to. Just let me know and I'll try to post so you guys can read more of my story.
All my fans rock and I would like to take the time to thank all of you who took the time to read this story. It means a lot to me even though I don't have much votes or fans. Its ok because I'm continuing this story cuz I enjoy writing this and it's my first story. Anyway I know i'm babbling. I'll sometimes do that when I'm excited.
