Chapter 12

Mackenzie's P.O.V

My tutor went out of my bedroom as mum, dad and Sophie came into the house. I quickly got up, ignoring the pain that was shot through me and changed into my clothes before Sophie came into the room. She opened the door a minute later as I laid down on my bed again. She looked at me before she went towards her bed and threw herself on top of it.

"You're so lucky Mac." She told me as she rolled over to face me. I rolled over at the same time so I was facing her. I looked at her confused a second later as I heard my mum and dad talking to my tutor downstairs

"How?" I asked her a second later as I tried to ignore the pain inside of me.

"You don't have to put up with Jessica and her friends anymore." She pointed out. "All you have to do is a couple of hours' worth of school work and then you're free to do whatever you want Mac." She explained

"But it's still school. I still have to do homework." I pointed out to Sophie

"But you don't have to deal with people constantly messing around in class. You don't have to deal with Jessica making stupid comments and you don't have to deal with people sucking up to her all the time." She told me.

"I'm not as lucky as you think I am Sophie." I replied to her as I stared up at the ceiling.

"But you are Mac. You're the luckiest kid I know." Sophie continued as she got up to get changed out of her clothes. I heard the front door closing a minute later and the sound of footsteps coming up the stairs and towards our bedroom. Dad knocked on our bedroom door and opened it a minute later.

"Sophie can you leave for a second? I want to have a talk with Mackenzie." He asked. Sophie nodded her head as she headed towards the door and went out of the room. My dad waited until she was out of the room before he closed it and turned around to face me. He came towards me and sat on the bed. I sat up and looked at him a second later

"So how was school?" He asked me. I shrugged my shoulders as I looked away from him.

"Mackenzie. Is everything okay?" Dad continued to ask me as I stayed silent.

"Why wouldn't it be?" I asked him as I looked at him again. He raised his eyebrows.

"Because you're not usually this quiet." Dad noted as he pulled back my covers. My heart sank as my dad's eyes fell onto the bloody patch on my sheets.

"Mackenzie...?" He trailed off. Fear invaded my whole body a second later.

"Please don't be mad." I shouted before I got up and ran out of the room

"Mackenzie?" I heard my dad call after me. I could hear the confusion in his voice.

I ran towards the main bathroom and slammed the door shut before I turned around and placed my back against the door. I heard my dad running towards the bathroom door. "Mackenzie, please let me in." Dad begged me. He started banging on the door a minute later. I heard mum's voice from downstairs asking my dad what the banging was all about.

"Mackenzie's locked herself in the bathroom." I heard him say. I could hear the panic in his voice.

"What happened?" She asked as she came upstairs.

"I don't know. I just pulled her covers back and noticed that there was a blood stain on her sheets and then she freaked out." Dad told her before he turned towards the door again and banged on the door once more.

"Mackenzie please open the door. You're really scaring me." Dad begged

"I-I don't want you to be mad at me." I called out. There was silence between us for a second before my dad placed his hand on the door. He sighed.

"Mac. Whatever it is. I promise that I won't be mad at you. You can tell me anything. You know you can. So please open the door." He replied to me. I got up a minute later and opened the door. Dad came into the room and shut the door behind him. "Now what's going on?" Dad asked me.

"I-I can't tell you. Every time I try, I can't get the words out." I told him

"Can you write it down?" He asked me. I shook my head at him as I went towards him and threw my arms around him. He slid down the wall before he pulled me onto his lap and wrapped his arms around me. I buried my face into his chest as I felt the tears falling down my face. He rubbed his hand up and down my back in an effort to try to comfort me

"I'm scared you're going to be mad." I whispered before I looked up at him.

"Why would I be mad? Have you done something?" I shook my head at him.

"I-It's something that's been done to me." I explained. "S-Something that hurt really bad." My voice cracked at the end as tears continued to fall.

"Someone's hurt you?" I saw the flash of anger in my dad's eyes as I nodded my head. He clenched his fists as his arms tighten around my body. "Who?" He asked through gritted teeth two or three minutes later

"M-My tutor." I stuttered out a second later. My dad lifted me off my lap and stormed out of the bathroom a minute later.
