Chapter 14
Mackenzie's P.O.V
I hurried into the house as soon as Mum opened the door. "LOOK THERE'S A BUNNY RABBIT IN THE GARDEN!" I shouted as I ran towards the patio doors. Bunny rabbits were cute and so fluffy. "DADDY CAN WE HAVE A BUNNY RABBIT?" I asked as I turned around. Mum and dad looked at Max who looked back at them sheepishly. Max had taken me out for the day with his niece and nephew and oh look A BUTTERFLY! IT'S A PURPLE BUTTERFLY.
"Butterfly...butterfly...donkeys...cows...PIZZA!" I shouted as I spun around in a circle.
"Max. How much sugar has she had?" My dad asked him as I continued to spin around in circles.
"WOW THE WORLD IS MOVING!" I screamed out as I fell onto the floor laughing.
"DON'T STOP MOVING, EVERYONE IS GROOVING, DJ'S GOT IT GOING AROUND, AROUND." I started singing as I looked at the walls. I got up a second later and ran towards the patio doors and pouted. The bunny rabbit was gone.
Maybe I could be a bunny rabbit...or a cow...or a butterfly...nah I want to be a squirrel!
There was just one problem...I was allergic to nuts...
"Daddy do squirrels only eat nuts? I want to be a squirrel! Or maybe a butterfly...or a dolphin...or a shark so I can eat people..." I trailed off as I drifted off into my own thoughts.
"No I know I can be a PINEAPPLE!" I screeched a second later as I ran towards the kitchen.
"Whoa. Hold on for a second Mackenzie don't you think you've had enough sugar?" Dad asked me.
I shook my head at him. "I only had a doughnut, an ice cream, candy floss..." I trailed off as my own thoughts distracted me. A second later I snapped out of my thoughts "and what was I talking about again?" I asked him a minute later confused.
"OH YEAH I WANTED TO BE A PINEAPPLE. CAN I BE A PINEAPPLE DADDY PLEASE?" I asked him. Mum and dad turned to Max who was slowly backing towards the front door.
"So I'll see you guys-." Demi folded her arms before she interrupted him
"Not so fast mister. Get back here now." She demanded. Max trudged towards Mum.
"AND WE GO UP, WE GO DOWN, WE GO BACK UP AND SPIN AROUND. CAN YOU POINT YOU'RE FINGERS AND DO THE TWIST?" I sang loudly as I did the actions.
"Mackenzie do you think you could tone it down a little bit?" Dad asked
"BANANA'S ARE AWESOME!" I yelled as Max chuckled a little. Mum turned to glare at him.
"Come on Mac. I think we need to have a bath to calm you down." Dad told me as he lifted me into his arms.
"EVERYBODY, DON'T GROW UP! IT'S A TRICK!" I screamed out as Dad carried me out of the room.
Demi's P.O.V
Max tried so hard to hold his laughter as I turned to look at him. "I'm so glad you think this is fun Max." I said to him sarcastically as soon as Mackenzie was out of the room.
"She's just a little hyper Demi." Max replied to me.
"Just a little hyper? She's spent the last twenty minutes running around shouting random things and being incredibly impulsive Max. You know she's being tested for ADHD and you should damn well know how dangerous it is for Mac to get really hyper. Do you have any idea how dangerous it is to give Mac a load of sugar? Max she could have wondered off with someone, or ran in front of a car, or ended up doing something really stupid. I thought we could trust you to make sure that's she's safe and sound with you but obviously not." I ranted. Max raised his eyebrow at me.
"I was with her." Max stated.
"That's not the point. The point Is Mac could have seen something that looked appealing to her and ran after it. Then anything could have happened to her. She doesn't think Max and sugar only increases the chance of Mac doing something without thinking." I continued to scream at him.
"Max ADHD isn't just being a little hyper. It's way more than that. The brain works differently with ADHD. Mac doesn't have any sense of danger and is unable to stop before she does something. Not to mention Mac believes that everyone she meets is her friend and would happily go off with a stranger."
"Mac isn't like other eight year olds. A lot of the time you have to explain things to her like she's still five years old. Mac's not going to say no when you offer her sugar, she's eight years old. But next time just think before you give her something." I finished before I went out of the room.
Authors Note:
So I decided to create a chapter with a little humour in it because things have been pretty intense. Also it kind of spreads a different light on ADHD which will happen more in the next few chapters a long with Dyslexia. Most people think that ADHD is all fun and games but it isn't I can tell you that. ADHD is probably one of the most frustrating things I have to deal with every day. But before I go on and on and bore you guys I'm going to leave this here. I hope you have/had a nice day and I'll update as soon as I can.
