Chapter 19

Alex's P.O.V

I don't know what kicked in but something did. I jumped off the cliff, seconds after Mackenzie was dropped. I hit the icy cold water a few seconds later. I frantically started to search for Mac until I saw her thrashing around in the water. I tried to get to her before she went underneath the water again. But I couldn't get there fast enough. I went underneath the water and moved my arms around to try and find her. Seconds later I found her body and pulled it up. Her body was limp in my arms but I managed to cling onto her as I swam towards the shore

I laid her down on the sand a second later. "Mac. Wake up." I told her as I tried to shake her awake. It didn't work.

"Mac. Please say something Mac. Anything. It can be to do with pineapples or sharks but please don't leave me Mac." I begged her as tears fell down my face. I pulled her into my arms a few seconds later as I started full out sobbing. Sirens filled the air seconds later and I heard people rushing towards me.

"Y-you can't leave me." I continued as I held Mac tightly in my arms. I heard the paramedics rushing towards me. Even though I wanted to just hold her in my arms I knew I couldn't because they had to check everything. Demi came running towards me a minute later.

"What happened sir?" One of the paramedics asked me

"S-s-she...I..." I stuttered not able to form a full sentence

"Alex take a deep breath." I heard Demi say as she grabbed my hand. I took a couple of deep breaths before I tried again a few minutes later.

"Her mother held her over the edge of the cliff. When I tried to get her she dropped her and Mackenzie fell into the water." I told them.

Seconds later we heard another splash as if another person had fallen into the water. My heart sank as I realised Sophie had been left with Lauren. I hurried to my knees before I ran towards the water once again. I swam around as I tried to find her.

"Sophie." I yelled out before I went underneath the water to try and find her

I went back up to the surface a second later before I called out her name once again.

"Sophie." I screamed. I was about to dive underneath the water when I heard her voice coming from the shore

I swam towards her before I picked her up into my arms the second I reached the shore.

"Thank god you're okay." I said as I held her close to me

"Daddy you're freezing cold and wet." Sophie moaned a second later.

I ignored Sophie's whines and complaining and carried her towards Demi and Mac.

"Then who fell into the water?" Demi asked confused.

"She hurt my sister. She has to be punished in some way mum." Sophie said as she struggled against me. I placed her on the floor a seconds later. Sophie hurried towards Mackenzie and laid down beside her as the paramedics examined her.

"She has a heart beat." I sighed in relief as soon as they said that.

"But it's not as powerful as I'd like it to be. She's far too cold as well." They continued as they lifted Mackenzie on a stretcher and I got up. I followed them towards the ambulance one second later

Demi's P.O.V

I turned to Sophie as Alex went with the paramedics she looked at me anxiously a second later.

"Am I in trouble Mum?" She asked.

"I think we'll decide that later Sophie. Right now we should probably get some dry clothes for you father don't you think?" I asked her

Sophie nodded her head at me.

"Come on then let's go home quickly and then we will go to the hospital." I said to her.

Alex's P.O.V (half an hour later)

As soon as I was examined and had dry clothes on I was free to go. I sat in a small private room as we waited for an update on Mackenzie

A doctor finally knocked on the door. "Mackenzie's father?" He called out I stood up and followed him out of the room.

"We have examined her and there's a very unlikely chance that she will survive the night." The doctor told me.
