Chapter Five
Mackenzie's P.O.V (A few weeks later)
A group of girls started laughing at me as I went down the hall way. "Look at her! She's such a loner." Jessica whispered to one of her friends. Sophie was beside them, she didn't say anything to me or them she just turned her back and hung her coat up on her peg. Jessica, Sophie and the other girl Chelsea linked arms with each other before they went into the classroom.
My heart ached as I went into the classroom...alone. I wondered what happened to being best friends forever with Sophie. But I guess time change and people change. People threw pieces of paper at me as I came into the room. I bent down and picked them up before I flattened the pieces of paper out. Words were written on them but unlike the other times I didn't feel like crying. I just felt numb. I was used to it by now. It wasn't going to stop so I might as well just suck it up and get on with school
"I can't believe you have a freak like her for your sister." Jess whispered to Sophie. Sophie just shrugged her shoulders as the teacher came into the room. I sat down at the back of the class and concentrated on what the teacher was saying to the whole class.
"So I have some exciting news to tell you guys. There's going to be a talent show for our year. Auditions are on Friday, so if you are interested then please sign up and come to the hall on Friday." Miss Hill told us excitedly. Whispers erupted through out the room a few seconds later. I stayed quiet as I looked down at my desk while everyone talked to their friends about the talent show.
Break Time
The bell for break filled the room and everyone stood up before they tucked their chairs in. They hurried out of the classroom and went towards the playground. Sophie, Jessica and Chelsea looked at me as I walked past them. "So are you going to be auditioning for the talent show?" Chelsea asked me. Jessica sniggered.
"Please the only talent she has is being a freak!" Jessica laughed. Sophie and Chelsea joined in. I'm not going to lie it hurt that my own sister was laughing at me. I ran out of the room crying. I sprinted down the hallway until I came across the music room. I opened the door and closed it before I went towards the piano and started to play the chords to 'Skyscraper'
Skies are crying
I am watching
Catching teardrops in my hands
Only silence, as it's ending, like we never had a chance
Do you have to, make me feel like there's nothing left of me?[Chorus]
You can take everything I have
You can break everything I am
Like I'm made of glass
Like I'm made of paper
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the ground
Like a skyscraper
Like a skyscraperAs the smoke clears
I awaken, and untangle you from me
Would it make you, feel better to watch me while I bleed?
All my windows, still are broken
But I'm standing on my feet[Chorus]
You can take everything I have
You can break everything I am
Like I'm made of glass
Like I'm made of paper
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the ground
Like a skyscraper
Like a skyscraper[Bridge]
Go run, run, run
I'm gonna stay right here
Watch you disappear, yeah
Go run, run, run
Yeah it's a long way down
But I am closer to the clouds up hereYou can take everything I have
You can break everything I am
Like I'm made of glass
Like I'm made of paper, Ohhh woaah
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the groundLike a skyscraper
Like a skyscraperLike a skyscraper
Like a skyscraperLike a skyscraper
I heard someone clapping as I finished. I looked up and saw Miss Hill standing in the doorway. "You're really good Mac." She told me. I didn't say anything as I got up and turned around to see her.
"Are you going to audition Mac?" She asked me. I shook my head
"Why not? You're really good." I shrugged my shoulders before I looked down at the floor.
"Okay Mac why don't you go outside and play for five minutes?" Miss Hill suggested. I nodded my head before I ran out of the room.
A few days later
I came home from school with Sophie, Jessica and Chelsea. We walked home from school because it was practically over the road from where we lived. As soon as I was in the hall my dad ran towards me and spun me around in a circle. "I'm so proud of you Mackenzie." He told me as he put me down on the floor and I pulled away from him. I gave him a confused look a second later.
"Didn't anyone tell you? You got in Mac. You got in the talent show." My heart started thud against my chest as soon as my dad said that. But I didn't audition in the first place. I turned around and looked at Chelsea and Jessica who were both glaring at me. I looked away from them both a few seconds later.
Well they're going to hate me even more now.
