"Mommy, when will daddy let me have a bwoyfwiend?" I question out of the blue as my mom brushes my brown locks like she always does before I go to bed.
My let's out a soft laugh before answering, "When you are older my little princess."
"I cwan't wait untiwl I find my pwince charming, he is gwoing to be hwandsome." I respond.
My mom sets the brush on the vanity table and she smiles at me through the mirror.
"And he has to treat my princess well or else I will shoot him." Came the familiar voice that belonged to my dad.
"Daddy!" Exclaim as I run up to him and he picks me up in his arms.
"How's my little princess?" He asks as he pecks my cheek causing me to smile.
"I am gweat daddy, how about you?" I reply.
"I am good as well. And what is it you and mom were talking about?" He states as he sets me on my pink princess bed.
"Your daughter here asked me when will you let her have a boyfriend." My mom answers and my dad's face causes me to giggle.
"Never," He replies. "You don't need anyone else but daddy. Why would you ever think of replacing me, don't you love me?"
"But daddy," I whine and he just laughs as he sits on the bed next to me and sets me on his lap.
"Later on you'll have a boyfriend, and most probably get married. And I am sure you'll get married to a good man because if he ever treats you badly I will kill him." My dad states.
"And when I gwet marry, you will walk mwe down the church like gwandpa did to mommy in the video we saw." I respond excitedly.
My dad let's out a soft chuckle before answering, "Yeah I will."
The sound of my alarm clock brings me back to reality. I sit up on my bed and stretch my arm out to shut up the stupid alarm. I wipe away the tears as I look down at my engagement ring. I lean my head on the headboard.
"I miss you dad, and I wish you were here." I state. "Maybe if either of you would have been here I wouldn't have accepted this proposal."
I let out a deep and long sigh before I get out of the bed. Today was my first day working in McKellar Industries. I was a bit nervous but excited at the same time. I walk towards my closet and search through it. I decide on a burgundy colored pencil skirt that ended two inches before my knees, a white cross font blouse which showed up a bit of my cleavage, and to wrap it all up I grab a pair of nude pumps that made me look taller. I walk towards the bathroom but not before grabbing my phone. I turn on Spotify and press play before stripping out of my clothes and stepping into the shower.
Once I was seven years old my momma told me
Go make yourself some friends or you'll be lonely
Once I was seven years oldI start singing along to the song as I scrub my body.
It was a big big world, but we thought we were bigger
Pushing each other to the limits, we were learning quicker
By eleven smoking herb and drinking burning liquor
Never rich so we were out to make that steady figureOnce I was eleven years old my daddy told me
Go get yourself a wife or you'll be lonely
Once I was eleven years oldI always had that dream like my daddy before me
So I started writing songs, I started writing stories
Something about that glory just always seemed to bore me
'Cause only those I really love will ever really know me
