Noong makatulog si Seven ay agad akong lumabas ng kanyang kwarto. Sa tapat ng pintuan ay naroon si Ate Serise, nakaupo at nakatitig sa kawalan. When she saw me, she immediately rolled her eyes. Tumayo siya at kinuha ang kanyang bag.

"Ate.." I called her. She stopped walking. Nilapitan ko siya at hinintay na harapin niya ako. She breathed hard before turning to face me.

"I'm sorry."

"Sorry."

Sabay naming sabi. Napangiti ako habang si Ate naman ay tumaas lang ang labi. She bit her lip and smiled at me. Umupo kaming dalawa sa mga stool roon. We are both silent for almost a minute before I started speaking.

"Sorry talaga Ate. Hindi ko naman alam na may mangyayari kay Seven dahil sa pagbabar ko. I just want to prove myself, that's all." Anas ko. Lumobo ang pisngi niya bago tumango.

"I will forever hate that childish version of you Cha. I almost lost a brother because of that stunt." Mataray niyang sabi. Napalunok ako habang nakatingin lang kay Ate. Nakakaintimidate siya.

I mean, she is a Montreal. She is THE Montreal. Kahit nga ang mga kapatid niya ay natatakot sa kanya. Tumaas pa lang ang kilay ni Ate Serise ay nanlalambot na ako. Bukod sa mga magulang ni Seven, ang approval ni Ate ang pinakagusto kong makuha.

"I'm just scared that one day, all of them are inlove and I am left alone. Ngayon pa lang, naiiwanan na ako. All I have is Seth and I can feel that I am already losing him Cha. He's starting to see his rule." She said. Napanguso lamang ako at hindi na nagsalita. I quite understand her. I know that I will freak out once Kuya Caius falls in love too. Really fall inlove. Iyong pagmamahal na kayang tapatan ang pagmamahal ng kapatid ko sa kutson niya.

"I won't hurt Seven." I promised. And it's true. After everything that happened, putting Seven in pain will be next to impossible for me. Alam kong marami pa akong dapat na matutunan, pero kung may naiintindihan na ako ngayon, it is the value of protection.

My parents protected each other from the pain of their past. Ate Serise wanted to protect her brothers from hurting. Kahit na anong klaseng pagmamahal pa iyan, kaakibat noon lagi ang pagprotekta.

Tinapik ni Ate ang palad ko bago tumayo. "I won't say sorry about the text message Chantal. I wanted to see your reaction once you learn that Seven's alive." Paliwanag niya. Tumango lamang ako at tumayo na rin.
