Small girl, big city

Chapter 6

One week into living in America and I've already made friends. Today I was heading over to Ryder's, he said he knew an awesome roller coaster park. I woke up at 9ish and got ready, I did the usual morning thing where I would come to aunt Tess making breakfast and April and Tom in the living room, I don't know why they got up so early? Any way we exchanged goodbyes and Ryder had just pulled up outside as he was driving us there. The drive is about an hour, on the way we stopped off at McDonald's for breakfast, if I'm being honest American McDonald's breakfast is probably nicer than the breakfasts at home.

When we got to the theme park, we already paid online for the tickets which means we didn't have to queue for hours. As soon as we went through the gates, there were roller coasters and screams and laughs everywhere. "Where first?" Ryder asked me. "Wherever, I kinda need to use the bathroom first" I say jiggling my leg. "Ok then" he smiled, he then slowly held my hand, I didn't make a scene of it, I just carried on walking normally. I make
My way into the toilets, running into the cubicle I grab my phone out and quickly ring April, Sen as though I haven't made any friends here yet she was my only friend I could talk about boys to. "Hello?" April shouted, probably not being able to hear me because of all the screaming. "He just held my hand!" I screamed down the phone. "What?! When?!" She screamed back. "I said I needed the toilet, so he grabbed my hand" I slowly repeated myself. We both carried on asking and answering questions until I realised how long I've been, so I end the phone and head back to Ryder. I acted as if everything was normal and he didn't question me on how long I've been.

After basically being on everything on the theme park 3 times I made my way to the exit when a hand grabbed my shoulder. "Hey where you going?" Ryder asked me. "Erm I'm going back?" I laugh. "What we haven't even been on the sky fall!" He shouts looking like a big kid. "Ugh do we have to?" I sigh. "Yes now come on!" He says grabbing my hand AGAIN. We queue for 45 minutes which is fairly short until we got on the ride. I do like roller coasters but this one is known for being the big one. I couldn't help but grab Ryder's arm, burying my face in chest, I know it sounds bad but I would have probably done it with a stranger. After what seems like forever it finally starts, I close my eyes and burry my head even further into Ryder, even if that's possible.

The ride wasn't that bad. Afterwards we finally made our way back to the car, we then carried our journey home. The way back was quiet all most silent, it wasn't an awkward silent, I just think we were both exhausted from the long day. We pulled up outside my aunts house. "Why don't you come in" I suggest. "Well I guess I haven't got any other plans" he smiled. We both walked m in and my aunt was in the living room with Tom and April, as soon as April saw Ryder she immediately gave me a grin. "Who's this handsome looking boy?" My aunt Tess asked also giving me a grin. "This is Ryder, reader this is my aunt Tess, my two cousins April and Tom" I introduce them. "Hi Ryder" April waves. "Hey mate" Tom nods. "We're just gonna head upstairs for a little bit of that's ok" we both head upstairs and into my room. "Your aunts got a pretty big house" Ryder says looking Round in amazement. "Yeah I know" we both just sat awkwardly at the edge of my bed. "I don't suppose you wanna meet my friends back at home?" I ask hoping he'd say yes. "Yeah ok" he says. I grab my laptop and FaceTime the twins. "Hey Autumn!" They both wave. "Hey guys, meet my new friend Ryder" I introduce him. At first they looked confused but then they smiled and waved. "Hi Ryder" Oliver says. "Hey" katelyn beams. We carried on talking a little while longer, I think they all got on quite well which is good, I know they won't be 100% sure at first but I'm certain well all become really good friends. I was debating whether or not I should tell Sam, but in the end i did. I also didn't mention to Ryder that he's pretty concerned when it come to me and other boys. "Hey Sam" I wave. "Hey, who's that" he asks furrowing his eyebrows. "Sam this is my new friend Ryder" I don't think he liked it when I said "new friend". "Hey mate" Ryder nods. "Yeah don't call me mate" Sam rudely comments. "Sam!" I shout, "you've only known him a week and already your bestfriends?" He raises his voice slightly, I couldn't believe him. "Well this is how you make friends" I saw raising my voice back. "Oh do you know what, call me when your not with this creep" he shots ending the call. I have never seen this side of Sam before, I was so shocked. "Ryder I'm so sorry" I say grabbing his hand, bad move. "Hey it's ok, I get it, new friend, he'll come round" he smiles, I was so lucky to have Ryder with me. Even if I had only known him a week, that's how friends become friends. I didn't bring it up after that, I just tried to forget about it. We both went back downstairs and put a movie on, I gathered this was the perfect way for My aunt and my cousins to meet Ryder.

After the film finished it was time for Ryder to go. "I think I'm gonna head home" he stood up wafting pigs of pop corn of him. "I'll see you out" I say also wafting the bits off me. "Thankyou Tess for letting me stay" Ryder smiles "it's a pleasure" she smiles back. "Bye" April and Tom wave. "Bye guys" Ryder waves back. I show Ryder to the door. "Thankyou for today" he smiles. "No thankyou, I wouldn't have no one if it wasn't for you" I thank him, and we both pull into a hug. It was so nice to have a friend in America.
