Dear Charlie,
Today I met with Judith again; it surprises me that she is the one that normally reach me, as always, morning sex, two cigarettes a cold shower and no words were spoken. Not until before I reached the door, Judith asked me if I wanted to go for some coffee. I didn't know what to say so I just nodded amd waited for her to get ready. I'm beginning to get used to her naked body. It was a rainy day, she hates rain, we walked to the nearest coffee shop and talked. It gets to me, the fact that behind all that "confidence" there's a girl that is scared of getting her heart shattered. She didn't talk about us, we didn't talk about me. She was the one talking, about her childhood, her dad, and her mother who passed away three years ago in a shooting incident. It's curious how much you can learn from someone without asking anything at all. At that moment, I felt like I had a friend. After having some coffee, the rain stopped, we headed out, she went home amd I just kept walking, without a trace to were I was going to end up. Uncle wasn't at the shore; he was probably at a strip club or playing domino with old friends.
It was cold, no one was outside, and I was beginning to fear someone was going to te out and steal everything I had. I kept walking to a little park where there was a few tends of food and other things for tourists. I like artisians work something caught my attention, a little elephant neckless, and I thought of Sam. I thought of how much miss her, and I wondered if she misses me too. I wanted to talk to her and tell her about my journey with my uncle, but I don't have a phone. I still bought it, a reminder I guess, I know it's stupid but meh. I was walking back to where we were staying and saw a man without shoes, he seemed harmless and hungry, so I took a beeline to him and asked if he was hungry. He said yes, and I offered him to go with me and have dinner. He was shocked and often asked if I was sure about it, I couldn't see him walking on his bare feet so I gave him my shoes. We went to a diner, I wasn't really hungry, amd he ate waffles and eggs, three cups of coffee and a beer. We talked for two hours after, his name is Abraham, he has a kid, a little girl, Grace, and he sells his art on the streets to raise money and take care of his little girl. He's a painter, a really great one, he showed me a little sketch book he had with him, the drawings were amazing and realistic. I couldn't believe a man with such talents was going through this situation. But what shocked me were the last words he told me before saying goodbye. "I've never seen such kindness since before my grandfather." I said thank you, and he hugged me, the smell was repugnant but I didn't mind. I'll take a shower after. Before going home, I stopped at a payphone, I knew Sam's number, but I wasn't sure if she still had it. It rang a few times but she didn't answered, I knew she still uses that number though, because of her voicemail. "Hey, sorry I can't talk right now, but I'll get to you as soon as I get your message!" Fuck, I felt vulnerable at that moment Charlie, but I had to give it a chance.
Love,
Joctan.
