You and Bucky share an apartment, Steve had rescued him about two years ago and you both moved in with each other about half a year after he got back. (You had known him in Hydra beforehand) He doesn't always go into a 'Winter Soldier mode' but every so often he does.
And sadly that night is tonight
You awoke with a start when you heard Bucky move around, talking in his sleep, you felt his metal arm move around. Slowly you slide out of bed and grab the phone on the dresser, everything goes silent as your finger hovers over the call app. Slowly, you turn around to see if it was just a false alarm.
You have never been so wrong
Bucky's metal arm shoots out and wraps around your neck, pinning you to the wall.
"You have to at least recognize me." You gasp as his grip tightens, you claw at the metal arm for a few more seconds. Finally, you reach behind the dresser and grab the taser Nat had given you. Quickly, you thrust your arms out to come in contact with his skin. He instantly drops you and you fall to your knees in a coughing fit. You look up to see him holding his side while looking down at you with cold dark eyes. Quickly you scramble away and crawl out the door while slamming it behind you.
"Phone, phone, phone." You mutter while looking around for your cell.
'Shit I dropped it in the bedroom.' You think to yourself as you finish looking around, you hear Bucky banging on the door. Thank god he convinced you to get a stronger one leading into the bedroom, you thought it was stupid at first but now? You're glad you gave in. You hear the door starting to break under the pounding/punching on the door. You lunge for the phone sitting on the side table by the remote. Quickly you dial the number to the tower as the door breaks off it's hinges, you hear someone pick up the phone but don't wait for anyone to say hello.
"CODE WINTER!" You hiss into the phone as Bucky comes into the main room, you drop the phone and crawl to the other side of the couch to the cupboard to hide. You hear him walking around as you hold your breath. He walks past a few times till he stops in front of your hiding place, as he's about to open the cupboard you hear the door to the apartment burst off its hinges.
"Buck." You hear Steve state.
"Who the hell-"
"Listen to me." Steve interrupts. "Your name is James Buchanan Barnes, your girlfriend Y/N Y/M Y/L is hiding right now because of you not remembering. Do it for her, Bucky she needs you."
"S-she needs me." You hear him groan as something falls from the counter.
"Buck-" you then hear a gun shot before something or someone collapses to the ground right in front of your cupboard.
"Y/N?" You hear Steve call.
"Y-yeah." You shakily call back, Steve opens the door and helps you crawl out.
"He's going to be okay." Natasha smiles at you as Steve hands you off to her. "It was just a night night gun."
"T-thanks." You whisper.
"Why don't we go back to the tower." Steve offers while lifting Bucky. "It'll be easier."

"I want to talk to him." You state while watching him through the screen.
"Y/N, I don't think that's a good idea." Tony sighs. "He hasn't been cleared yet, Steve even says it's not a good idea."
"Tony, open the damn door." You order, he hesitates but opens the door. Bucky gerks up as you slowly walk in.
"Hi Buck." You whisper, he stares at you a moment longer before looking down again.
"You should've listened to Stark." He sighs. "I'm not stable, I told you this before we moved in together. Now look what I've done to you." You tentivly reach up and touch the marks on your neck from his fingers.
"But I know you didn't mean it." You whisper. "We will get through this."
"Don't you see Y/N!" Bucky snaps while standing up. "There's no fixing this unless you get all of Hydra out of my head and we can't do that!"
"Yeah well I believe that we can." You argue.
"And why is that?" He demands without looking to you.
"Because I love you and someone once told me that when your love is strong, it'll help you get trhough anything." You state. "I didn't believe that till I really needed to."
"You believe that we can fix this?" He demands while gesturing to himself.
"I believe that we can together." You smile while pulling him into a hug, he tenses but quickly hugs you back after a few seconds. "I love you."
