Suddenly, the warning bell began to ring out and a panic gripped Laketown. Tauriel came outside and stood beside us, mesmerised by the sight of the dragon. All three of us stood there, frozen with a mixture of fear and mind killing panic. Tauriel suddenly snapped out of the trance we were in an ran back to the others.
"We have no time," she said "We must leave." Aleron and I followed her inside, helping everyone get out as fast as possible.
"We're not leaving," said Bain "Not without our father."
"If you stay here your sisters will die," growled Tauriel firmly "Is that what your father would want?" She turned to face Bain, a look of steel in her eyes.
"Come on Bain," I said to the boy softly, putting a hand on his shoulder. Bain looked to the ground and nodded slowly.
"Good lad," I smiled.
"What about da?" Asked Tilda. I looked at the child, putting on a brave face.
"Your father will be fine, he knows what he's doing," I said. Tilda gave a sad nod.
"Come on now, all of you!" Ordered Tauriel, who was already at the staircase. I looked back at Tilda, the child seemed close to tears.
"Come on now Tilda," I ushered, taking the child's hand. She took one last look around her home before following me down the stairs to the boat.

The next few minutes were a rush of confusion. We all ran to the boat, Tauriel constantly telling us to hurry.
"Don't be hasty," I whispered to Aleron, who gave me a small smile. We both knew Fangorn, or Treebeard as he was known to men, and the forest he guarded.
Good old Treebeard, what would you think of all this? I wondered to myself.

I looked about us. Everyone was running and screaming as we caught glimpses of Smaug flying above us. Suddenly, the beast flew right above us, setting off a cacophony of screaming.
"Get down!" I yelled as Smaug flew over nearby, letting loose a jet of red flame. The next few streets had been set ablaze, we needed to get out of here.

Suddenly, a jet of flame blasted behind us, setting the lake ablaze. Tilda and Sigrid screamed, crouching down with their hands over their heads. The master's gold filled boat crashed into ours, nearly tipping us out into the freezing cold water. Aleron swore loudly in whatever language she could, spitting insults at the master and his snivelling weasel of a manservant. I felt Tilda clinging onto my arm tightly. I turned to face the child, she was pale with fear. I whispered something calming to her in Elvish, hoping that would help. Laketown was a blazing pyre upon the lake, I wondered if we'd ever get out alive.

"Da!" Bain exclaimed suddenly. I looked up to see Bard atop the warning bell tower, raining arrows down upon the dragon. Tilda and Sigrid looked up at their father, gasping.
"Da!" Tilda screamed. I took the child in my arms, hushing her. She clung to me like a frightened rabbit, looking up in horror at her father.
"He hit it! He hit the dragon!" Yelled Kili as another of Bard's arrows hit the dragon.
"No," said Tauriel.
"He did it! He hit its mark I saw!" Yelled Kili, clearly not believing his new girlfriend.
"His arrows cannot pierce his hide," said Tauriel sombrely "I fear nothing will."

Then, suddenly, Bain leapt from the boat, grabbing onto a crane to get to the shore.
"Bain!" Called Fili.
"Leave him!" Commanded Tauriel "We cannot go back." I looked down at Tilda, who had tears in her eyes.
"Bain!" She screamed after her older brother. She and Sigrid both looked terrified. I gave Tauriel a murderous glare, despite the fact that deep in my heart I knew she was right.

Smaug was approaching the bell tower, his rasping, draconic voice roaring. I could not hear what he was saying. Bain and Bard were atop the tower, preparing to fire the black arrow. In a split second, the arrow flew though the air and struck the dragon. I watched in horror as the dragon flew up into the air, crying out in pain at the arrow in his chest. Suddenly, Smaug began falling. Falling...falling...falling...
Author's Note:
Okay, apologies for the confusion because when I published by this first time around it came before the A/N's and the Thank You notes. This is because I started writing this chapter ages ago and never actually got around to publishing it. I've fixed the order now so no one else gets confused. Sorry about that. The chapter's all the same apart from this little A/N. Anyway, hope you're enjoying this so far!
