I Can't Let You

Chapter 17

"Jayden" I scream "No!" I turn around to see the guy from before, after reading his mind I know his name is Corden. I sprint towards him at unnatural speed and pin him against the wall by his throat.

"Tell me where they've taken him or so help me lord, you will not like what happens to you" I threaten. I never threaten or use violence, what can I say? Jayden brings out both the best and the worst in me.

"I d-don't know" Corden splutters out what he can considering I am holding him by his throat.

"That's not good enough" I yell at him.

"Ok, ok, they took him to 143 Northeast Winster Avenue but that's all I know I swear" He informs me.

"Anything else I should know about?" I ask Corden.

"Don't be fooled by its appearance, the place is massive and filled with guards" He mumbles.

"Thank you Corden, I'm sorry about this, I really am, but when meet your soulmate you will understand"

"I have met my bond, she was amazing" He tells me with tears in his eyes. "After she passed I didn't have a purpose so I joined, I'm sorry"

"Joined wh-"

"Zyana! I found you" Tanna exclaims while running down the hallway. One look at what I am doing and she stops dead in her tracks.

"Zyana! I do not know what is happening but you need to put that man down right now!" Tanna yells, fury in her gaze.

"Just let me do one more thing" I need to wipe his memory.

"No, put him down right now" Tanna replies.

I look back to Corden to see the happiness in his eyes, he quickly changes it to the look of sadness but not before I see it.

I focus all of my energy into entering his mind. "You never knew of this organisation, All of the memories that you have of it is gone, I am an angry ex-girlfriends' friend and you will not remember anything from tonight, now go to your mum's house as that is where you live" I instruct Corden as I let go of his throut, he runs away as I do so.

"What was that?" Tanna demands to know as soon as he is gone.

"They have taken Jayden" I tell her and start to cry when she pulls me into a hug.

"Shhh, it's ok" Tanna tries to comfort me but I pull out from her embrace.

"No, it's not! I can't be weak, that's what they want." I tell her.

"But you can be sad"

"No. I need to get to this house, I need to get Jayden back."

"We need to go to that house" Tanna replies.

"You can't Tann, you could get hurt or they could use you as leverage over me" I tell her.

"Zyana, my gift is the gift of being a shield."

"Like on Twilight?" I ask.

"Exactly! Where do you think they got the idea from?" Tanna replies.

"I don't know, anyway, how does the shield work?" I question.

"Well ever since I turned 18 I have been practicing my affinity. My affinity has developed overtime so I can now use it in many ways, besides from being able to project it I can use it to be immortal as long as I am focussing with all of my might." Tanna finishes.

"Are you sure you want to come?" I ask Tanna.

"Of course" She replies.

With that we head off to 143 Northeast Winster Avenue, I fill Tanna in on the way there.
