I Can't Let You

Chapter 11

"Happy Birthday" I awake to my parents wishing me a happy birthday. I drove home last night so I could spend my birthday with my family.

"Thanks guys but it's so early" I comment raising my arms to rub my eyes.

"What the hell?" I yell, looking at my wrist. There on my wrist was a tattoo, but not just some random tattoo, I have seen it before. Suddenly the memories of my date with Jayden came flooding back to me. That picture, the one that made me act funny, it was on my wrist.

"Honey, please stay calm" My dad tells me.

"How am I supposed to stay calm, there is a tattoo on my wrist and I didn't put it there. Is this some sort of sick joke?" I am yelling by now.

"Zyana, calm down and listen." By now my mum is yelling, I can tell this is serious.

"Ok" I simply reply.

"You are a vampire"

"Nice joke, haha, the truth please" there was no trace of humour on my parents faces. "Hold on, they don't exist." Please tell me they don't exist.

"Zyana, you are a vampire, we are too. Once a vampire child turns 18 they are then told about their powers." Only one thought came to my head so I spoke my thoughts.

"Prove it" I said.

"Ok" My mum says and she puts her hand up to the sky as though she is reaching for something and whips her had in a circle. Instantly the air around me turns into a tornado and we are in the middle of it. My mum then pulls her hand back down and the wind stops.

"What the-"

"Don't finish that sentence" My dad scolds me and I quickly close my mouth.

"Ok, how come I have this tattoo"

"We will explain everything, just be patient" my mum replies and with that she starts explaining everything. For the next 3 years (Until I am 21) I will be known as a pre-vamp, this means the sun won't affect me and I won't need to drink blood but the rest of my vamp talents will grow in strength (for example every year I will get faster or better at hearing). My tattoo will connect with my one true loves, the ink will come out and connect like a thread if the wrists are close enough, apparently this connection is stronger then marriage. Vamps are also not allowed to date humans as that would be dangerous (my thoughts instantly went to Jayden).

"The tattoos need to be covered at all times, you cannot tell anyone that you are a vamp" My dad was saying.

"Then how will I know who is a vampire and who isn't?" I question my parents.

"There are vamp parties every Friday and that is where you can show your talents and find out who is a vampire"

"Oh, and one more thing, the tattoo on your wrist will show your power." My mum tells me. "Show me your wrist." She commands. So I show her my hand where the one of the four symbols (fire, water earth and air) show in each corner and a blank in the middle. If I remember correctly the first letter of my soulmates name will go on the center. I am brought out of my thoughts by my mums gasp.

"Honey" she is speaking to my dad, "She has all four symbols"

"That can't be right, that would make her the most powerful vamp to ever exist"

"What symbols?" I ask.

"Ummm, darling there have been predictions for centuries about two vampires, it was said that they would be soulmates and together the most powerful forces to ever live. It was also said that the boy would be able to control all things electronic, even time travel and the girl would have the affinity for all five natural elements, fire, air, water, earth and spirit. There was a painting created to show what her tattoo would look like, and you my darling daughter, you have that tattoo"
