Later that evening he sat outside in the communal gardens of his flat. She sat closely to him propped up with her legs outstretched and her arms behind her.
A comfortable silence had fallen over the pair and she found herself battling with the thoughts that swam around in her mind.
He nudged her gently from where he was sat and she looked up at him, a smile on her face.
"Your thoughts are louder than the traffic," he smiled and she couldn't help but lean closer to him as he tucked her hair behind her ear.
He could see the freckles that scattered across her cheeks,
"I want to kiss you," he told her, his hand on her cheek now, his thumb stroking her skin,
She moved closer to him, and pressed her lips gently against his own. He smiled, as she straddled his legs and wrapped her arms loosely around his neck. He shifted so he leaned forward and pulled her closer to him.
She couldn't help but moan against his mouth as his hands slipped underneath her top, one hand slipping around her back and the other running across her breast,
He pulled away from her and she smiled, a smile that he remembered seeing all those months ago.
She stood and held out her hand. He looked up at her for a moment and she raised an eyebrow. He jumped to his feet and laughed, before taking her hand and pressing her up against the nearest tree.
His chest felt hard against her own, and as he kissed her again she felt herself give in to everything she'd been trying to ignore over the past few months.
"Jacob," she uttered and he looked at her, how beautiful she felt so close to him,
"I think Carla's outside your door," she told him, watching as he followed her gaze.
He didn't know how to react and she knew that,
"I need to go home," she told him gently. He watched her walk over to her car, before he jogged after her,
"Wait," he asked her, "just..."
She placed her hand on his arm, "I'm a mess we both know that, if you like Carla... Don't ruin it because of me. I can't offer you any stability at the time being... I just..."
He saw the tears welling up in her eyes and he placed his hand gently on her cheek,
"Jacob," she uttered and he kissed her mouth once more. She pressed herself against him, her hands gripping at his shirt.
"That's a promise," he told her, "that once the dust settles and once you're ready I'm going to fight for you,"
She smiled, "I'll see you tomorrow."
