She entered the department a week later, as usual she looked immaculate. Only if you knew her would you notice the well hidden circles under her brown eyes and the way her hair had been tied up for a few days now.

She thanked Honey for her latte and stopped for a moment, "I know you probably don't believe in all of this Mrs. Beauchamp, but someone's going to come into your life and make it better," she smiled, "I mean your life is probably pretty good anyway, but you can't scoff at better,"

Connie smiled back at the younger female, "thank you."

She turned around and almost collided with someone who stood behind her. She looked up at the man who held onto her forearm firmly, and couldn't help the smile that graced her lips,

"Connie," he smiled, his eyes sparkling, "what are the chances?"

"I work here..." He pulled her backwards gently so the woman behind could order a coffee,

She looked up at him again, "what are you doing here?"

"I'm an A and E nurse... Today's my first day,"

She nodded, "in that case... welcome..."

Her bleep went off and she watched as he took his hand from her arm, "saved by the bell," he smiled and she excused herself. He stood watching her, unable to take his eyes off her.

"She's beautiful isn't she," Honey nodded,

"She is," he nodded, before introducing himself and ordering a coffee.

"She's the clinical lead... Basically shes the boss," Honey smiled, "she's probably the most intelligent person I've met,"

Jacob laughed and shook his head, "she married?"

"To some business man apparently."

She closed her office door and sat down at her desk. She'd only just managed to get him out of her mind and there he was. She exhaled and mentally shook herself, this wasn't like her at all.

She managed to avoid him for most of the day until a poly trauma was bought in. She needed a nurse and suddenly there he was, efficient and friendly and standing far too close to her.

"I'm going to have to open her up here," she admitted, "Jacob will you call anaesthetics and tell them to hurry,"

Two hours later she exhaled, "good job boss," he smiled and she shook her head.

"I don't suppose you want to grab a coffee?" He asked her, "I'm on a break and it's not like I know anyone else,"

She looked up at him from where she was sat and found herself agreeing even as she tried not too,

"I couldn't sleep last night," he admitted, "thinking of you... And of how you left last week... Can I ask... And I wouldn't normally but..." He rolled his eyes, "what did I do wrong?"

She nudged him, something telling her he wasn't used to such rejection,

"I'm married," she admitted, "and I felt that a one night stand with you probably wouldn't have stayed a one night stand,"

He nodded slowly, somewhat taken aback by her honest answer,

"You'd have been right about that," he admitted,

She stood up, "I should be getting home,"

He smiled, "your husbands a lucky man Connie,"

She leaned forward and kissed his cheek, "thank you,"
