She had managed to stay relatively composed since the trial had begun. He had pleaded guilty to attempted rape and actual bodily harm. He had denied attempted murder, however the court weren't easily fooled.

She noticed the way Jacobs face fell when she recounted her story and she realised not for the first time how much she loved this man.

They left together that evening, leaving the court to make a decision on sentencing. He had offered to take her away for the evening but she had declined, wanting nothing more that to curl up and sleep with him beside her.

She fell asleep in his arms on the sofa and when he was sure she was asleep, he moved her gently before walking outside and sinking to his knees.

She missed his warmth almost immediately, and when she couldn't hear him, she noticed the door was on the match. Slipping the spare keys into the pocket of her shorts, she jogged downstairs, knowing he'd have wanted some air.

She saw the way his tears ran down his face and she ran over to him, not caring about her state of undress, and wrapped her arms around him tightly.

She kissed his forehead and held his face with her hands, before she held his head to her chest as he cried.

She closed her eyes and held him quietly, she knew him and she knew that tears weren't something he ever expected.

Eventually he picked her up, carrying her up the stairs and placing her into bed. Their love making was different that night, tears mixed with passion and she knew that what ever happen the next day that they'd get through it together .
