"You've stepped down as clinical lead?" He asked her as he sat opposite her at breakfast that morning,
"I have," she nodded, placing down her toast before brushing off her trousers and sitting across his lap,
He ran his hands gently through her hair, "you love your job,"
She shrugged, "I'm tired of the paperwork and not coming home to you until late," she smiled, "then that makes us both tired,"
"But..."
She took a sip of his coffee, "I'll still be lead consultant, I just won't be in charge anymore,"
"Connie..."
"It was my choice," she went to stand up and he took her hand, "I though you'd be pleased,"
He smiled, pulling her back onto his lap, "of course I'm pleased... I just don't want you giving things up that you love,"
She ran her finger across his collar bone and shrugged, "I never used to mind the paperwork, it was a reason to be late home to Michael..." She smiled, "I don't want to be late home for you..."
She got up and kissed him, "go to bed, I have a shift to get too,"
He rolled his eyes, "will you still have your office?"
"Of sorts... I'll have to share it with Elle,"
Jacob laughed and she kissed him once before grabbing her keys from the side,
"I'll see you this evening,"

"Get out of here Connie," Charlie smiled, "that man has been waiting for you for long enough already,"
"That's an understatement," he uttered and she nodded,
"I'll grab my bag,"
"Where are you going Con?" Rita asked as Robyn stopped writing her notes and looked up,
"To a hotel of Jacobs choice," she smiled, "I have my phone if you need me,"
"Not a chance," Ellie smiled, "you've hardly left this place in two weeks, enjoy your weekend,"
Jacob slipped his arm around her shoulders and she smiled up at him,
"I'm so glad to be getting out of here,"
"You and me both," he smiled.
She stood running her hand over the note that lay beneath the shoes that she now had on her feet,
"Hopefully a random stranger won't make you walk up a muddy hill in these,"
He was in the shower and he must have laid the shoes on the bed whilst she was still out on the balcony, she jumped slightly as she heard his voice.
"I mean, as sexy as you look right now in those shoes and your underwear, we have a dinner reservation to get too... And I know how long your hair takes,"
She looked up at him and he held up a navy high necked, seemingly backless dress,
"Jacob..." She spoke quietly, seemingly lost for words,
He held the dress out to her and she took it gently, "you don't have to wear it if you've bought one you prefer," he smiled.
She took the dress from him and placed her hand on his chest, "you look incredible," she told him gently as he stood before her in a suit and well fitted shirt,
"What's going on?" She asked, and she shook her head, "I mean thank you, these are beautiful..."
He kissed her forehead, "don't start... Just get dressed,"
She smiled as he handed her a bra he'd obviously found in her underwear drawer, "you've thought of everything haven't you?" She smiled before taking the bra from him,
"I'll just dry my hair and get changed,"
He smiled, "you have an hour, hurry up,"
"Where are you going?"
"To get us a drink from the bar, saves me distracting you while you get ready,"
She took his hand, pulling him too her, "you make me happy," she told him, kissing his lips once, before pushing him away as his hands slid around her bare waist, "no distractions, go."
He reached the door before smiling at her and exhaling as he took his time heading to the bar.
Half an hour later he felt a hand on his shoulder and he turned to see Connie stood in front of him. He didn't know why he was surprised at how good she looked, she always looked good. But she wore the dress and heels as if they'd been made for her.
He stood up and took her hand, leading her to a quiet table that over looked the water and she great fully accepted the wine he'd bought her,
"You look so beautiful," he told her and she smiled happily at him,
"You make me feel beautiful," she told him, "and I'm not used to a man making me feel beautiful,"
"You obviously haven't met the right men," he told her and she slipped her hand over his,
"I have now,"
She was sat overlooking the water. The restaurant he'd taken her to was undoubtably one of the best places she'd been too in years. She found that she was still finding things out about him, and the more she knew, the deeper she fell in love with him.
"Connie Chase," he spoke quietly and she turned, expecting him to be standing, but instead he was on one knee on the floor.
"I never thought you'd fall for me," he told her, "and I still can't believe how lucky I am." He took her hands in his and she couldn't help the tears that sprung to her eyes, "I love you," he told her and she inhaled in an attempt to stop the tears falling,
"I've loved you since the moment I met you... Will you marry me?"
She nodded, the tears now rolling down her cheek as he slipped the ring onto her finger,
The restaurant went up in applause and she wrapped her arms around his neck as he held her tightly,
She brushed her thumb across his face, before pulling away and allowing him to stand up and return to his seat.
Couples from the restaurant came up and congratulated them and she found she couldn't stop the tears from falling,
He held her hands and smiled, "I know you haven't been divorced very long, and I understand if you want to wait a while to get married but..."
She smiled and squeezed his hands, "I want to marry you," she told him confidently, "I don't want to wait a long time,"
As they lay in bed together that night he smiled as she twisted the ring that was on her finger gently, "I can't wait to become Mrs. Masters," she told him quietly,
"I can't wait for the whole world to know that your my husband,"
He held her slightly tighter and kissed her forehead, "I love you forever," he told her and she raised an eyebrow,
"Forevers a long time staff nurse masters,"
"I'd happily give you forever," he told her and she pressed her lips to his shoulder,
"Forever it is."
