Chapter 9 ~ Saving Luke: Part 2

A/N:

Whoa, what a long update... I cannot begin to say how sorry I am for leaving you guys with this unfinished story, but I promise (this time I will commit) that I will update every Thursday (Southern Hemisphere time only hehe) as I have already written chapters ahead.

I know this story has taken an extremely long time but I swear to you, it is nearly finished and I will update to the set dates.

Thanks guys for sticking with me and that I have decided to continue this!! :D

Anyways, enough of me rambling, here's What's happened in the last chapter to refresh your memory:

Recap:

We entered the basement and they locked me in the cell. "What are you doing? Don't do this to yourself, brother!" I yelled, hoping he would hear me before the metal door closed. I heard them lock the door.

"Mr. Mark?" A female voice sounded from behind me and I turned around to see Luke and Skye, both I had captured for my brother.

Luke looked pissed off, and Skye looked confused.

I cleared my throat and chuckled awkwardly. "Ah, I believe we got off on the wrong foot. . ."

I stared at Mr Mark, confused. Luke was stiff and stood in front of me, blocking a clear view of the teacher.

"What are you doing in here?" Luke questioned him bitterly.

Mr Mark stood up from the ground and straightened up. "The same as you."

Luke raised an eyebrow. "You were captured to complete his army and take over the world?" He asked sarcastically.

"Yeah, maybe not exactly as you. I'm here because I'm a stubborn brother."

"You're his brother?" Luke asked confusedly.

"Unfortunately, yes." He said with a sigh and sat on the ground.

I sat down as well. "Can I ask? Why is he like this?"

"Like a power driven maniac?"

I nodded. "Yeah."

He chuckled. "Well, I guess it started when we were young. My brother and I were sons of Jacob Lawson, a man who killed 26 innocent people. Our father was charged with the murders and fled from the city. He raised us with a single-minded desire for revenge. He trained us to become powerful machines. My father forced me and my brother to use our powers against our own mother. And if we didn't, he would unleash his powers against us as punishment. We had no choice. We ended up killing my mother because she couldn't handle that much power.

"Then, my father became wild with greed and selfishness, and forced us to battle with each other, to see who was the strongest to follow him. I refused, and ran away so he wouldn't kill me."

"My brother became his favourite. Many years later we found each other and he asked me to join his army. On that day did I learn that my father died on one of his missions."

To say I was surprised was an understatement. I never expected him to tell his story so freely. "I'm so sorry." I mumbled as I faced the ground. Who knew my new substitute teacher would go through so much?

It was an extremely awkward silence for around thirty minutes. I sat in the corner fiddling with the end of my shirt while trying to avoid Luke's gaze, and Mr Mark was pacing around. I hadn't realised that some people had more problems than I did. Finally, somebody broke the silence.
