Chapter 15 ~ The Decision
Luke's question threw me off guard. He just asked me to be his girlfriend. Did I really want that? Yes, I love him and I trust him, but I didn't know if I was ready to take that step yet. With all that's going on right now, I didn't think I would have time for a relationship.
Luke's face fell and he stared at me, waiting for my answer. I only gazed at him with a blank face. My decision was what counted. But how could I answer when he just blurted it out like that? I didn't want to hurt him, though, so I answered. "Of course I will." I smiled, letting Luke sigh with relief.
"For a second there I thought you were gonna say no." He told me sheepishly.
I buried my face into his chest and breathed in his musky scent. He smelled amazing. His heart was pounding, but it slowed down gradually after a couple of minutes.
Drifting off to sleep, I thought about Luke being my boyfriend. I've never had a boyfriend before, even though I'm seventeen. My father didn't allow it. But now...I didn't know what was going to happen.
I didn't know a thing about relationships and I was afraid I was going to be a terrible girlfriend.

Morning came and it was time to depart to Noah's headquarters. The plan was imprinted in my brain as I had recited it over and over with Luke, Dad and Roady.
"Are you ready for this Skye?" Roady asked me as I stopped by the front door. "Because once you're in there, we cannot get you out. You have to sneak out."
I nodded. "I know what to do."
"Okay."
"Be safe Skye. I can't lose you too." Dad said as he embraced me in another tight hug. He's been doing that a lot lately.
"I will Dad, don't worry." I said smiling and walked out the door towards Noah's headquarters. I had to do this alone, otherwise Noah would get suspicious.
Looking back at the house over my shoulder, I sighed wondering if I will ever come back. I couldn't let the thought of not coming home alive stop me from defeating the Aphotics.
I couldn't.
Straightening, I travelled through the woods, searching and trying to remember where the headquarters was. After a few hours of moving around, I came across the tunnel from which Luke, Mr Mark and I escaped from. It was very large, rusted and hollow.
I entered the tunnel and made my way through it, finding myself at the end. I touched the brick that was used to hide the secret escape route and it pushed itself into the wall. A small click sounded, and the wall slid open, the concreted bricks grinding on the tiled floor, making my ears ache.
I slipped through and left the door open in case I needed to escape quickly through it.
I can do this. I have to bring Noah to justice. I chanted in my head as I silently walked through the dim hallways of the building.
I came across a room with a golden patterned arch printed on it. This has to be Noah's chamber, I thought to myself.
Slowly turning the knob of the door, it creaked open and I cringed at the noise, hoping I wouldn't get caught. I entered the dark room and closed the door quietly. When I turned around, the light flickered on and there stood Noah with Nate beside him.
My eyes widened in surprise but I kept a strong posture. "Noah," I spoke.
"You're back. I thought you would come a little sooner." Noah smirked, his dark eyes gazing upon me.
