Chapter 18 ~ An Idea

I didn't sleep at all last night, I just watched as Luke snored softly as his warm arm wrapped around me, like a barrier protecting me. All night I watched him sleep while trying to remember what happened after I went to Noah's headquarters. I remembered glimpses of my brothers face, and he looked different. He didn't look like the goofy, innocent boy I once knew, in fact he was the complete opposite. I wanted him back, but I knew that would be hard.

Luke's body shifted in the bed a little before his eyes slowly opened. He stared into my eyes and the corners of his mouth turned upwards into a heart-melting grin. "Good morning." He spoke, his voice hoarse and tired. "How long have you been up?"

"Morning." I whispered and snuggled into his hard chest. "I never slept."

At first I thought he was going to lecture me about how sleeping is important for your health, but instead I felt him kiss the top of my head and gently stroke my hair with his hand. "How are you feeling? Does your head hurt? Roady said you might feel a little overwhelmed today." Concern was written all over his beautiful face and I smiled, knowing that we were together again.

"I'm fine." I whispered, breathing in his manly scent.

He chuckled as I did and his chest vibrated with the low sound. "Did you just smell me?"

My eyes widened and I tried to come up with a lie. "No! I just, uh... I have a runny nose."

He laughed and my heart literally melted at the melodic sound. "You're such a bad liar!" He teased, causing me to pout. "But it's cute." He grabbed my chin gently and lifted my head towards his, then planted a soft, delicate kiss on my still tingling lips. "I love you, Skye."

The way he rolled my name off his tongue, it was like liquid gold. "I love you too." I whispered back honestly, and we cuddled each other until Dad had to come up to my room and tell us breakfast was ready.

"So Skye," Roady spoke as I sat down at the breakfast table with a hot plate of pancakes. "How's your head?"

"It's fine."

"I'm sorry about what I had to do to you yesterday, but we had no choice." Roady apologised and sat beside me with a look of guilt on his face.

I shook me head and have him a small smile. "Really, Roady, it's okay."

"No, it's not." My Dad interrupted, wheeling into the room. "I almost lost my daughter to that monster of a man. We are not letting her do any more of your plans Roady."

"Plans?" I asked confused and turned to Roady. "What plans?"

He rubbed the back of his head. "Well, I was thinking that since Noah doesn't know you have your memories back, then maybe you should pretend you are still one of his followers. You could say that we are all dead and try and lure Nate back here so I can restore his memories." Roady explained to me with an excited tone.

"And that will not happen!" Dad said.

"Dad," I faced my father. "Everything we've done up until now doesn't matter. We will think this plan through to avoid any more mistakes." I walked up to him and crouched beside his chair. "Please Dad, you know I'm not your little girl anymore."

He let out a long sigh and closed his eyes. "Alright, lets do it. But she will have somebody to watch over her while she's at Noah's headquarters."

Both Roady and I let out a small cheer and Dad rolled his eyes.

A knock at the door causes everyone in the room to face the front door. Dad wheeled to the door and opened it, revealing somebody I didn't expect to see.
