Tara
After that night I told August off, we haven't been talking. He picks up Kai and brings her back without indulging in any conversation.
He's honestly acting like a child who isn't getting his way.
My phone ringed and to my surprise it was August.
"What do you want?" I answered.
"I need you." He hoarse voice came through the phone before he let out a violent cough.
"Are you sick?" I asked, sitting up in my bed.
"No." He lied.
"Where's Kai?" I held the phone between my cheek and shoulder as I put on my Pumas.
"I had Lani come get her. I didn't want her to catch nothing." He replied, sneezing. "I can't even get out of bed."
"I'll be over there soon." I grabbed my keys, and left my house.
"The door should still be unlocked, so let yourself in." He coughed into the phone again before hanging up.
I know August knew he was sick before he even picked up Kai on Friday. He always waits until he's damn near dying before he accepts the fact he's sick.
Even when he's sick he'll try to keep pushing himself, which only makes him sicker. He's been like that since high school.
I sighed as I backed out of my driveway.

I walked inside of August's house immediately hearing his coughing. The house was so messy.
Kai's toys were scattered all over the living room. The floors needed to be mopped. And there was a pile of dishes in the kitchen.
It look like somebody's ghetto baby mama's house.
"Trifling." I mumbled to myself, proceeding up the stairs.
I followed the sounds of August's erratic sneezing to find his room. I walked inside of his room finding him laying on the bed with tissues all over the bed.
"Aww, you poor baby." I pouted, walking over to him.
He looked completely miserable. I know I'm definitely in for it because August acts like a big ass baby when he's sick. He's worse than Kai when she's sick.
"I'm hot." He whined.
The first thing I went to find was a thermometer. I found one in his bathroom cabinet.
"Open." I told him, holding the thermometer up to him.
He did as told and I put it under his tongue, waiting until it beeped. Once it did, I took it out his mouth and read what it said.
"Jesus Aug, 102, you're burning up." I looked at him concerned. "Take off your clothes."
I helped him take off his wife beater and gym shorts. He was now left in his boxers. I got a luke warm towel and put it on his forehead to help him cool down.
