Tara
I gave a lap dance to the fourth random guy until I was abruptly pulled away and taken into a private room.
"What the--August why are you here? Aren't you suppose to be back in Miami?"
"I moved here."
I rolled my eyes knowing that I'm going to keep seeing him around.
"What do you want?" I asked, not really caring.
"You know what I want. You can't keep me from my daughter."
"I'm busy right now so I don't have time for this." I headed towards the door, but he grabbed me by my arm and pulled me back.
"You think you can have that nigga play daddy to my daughter?" He scoffed.
"You chose not to be in her life. I didn't take her from you. You chose to have your little family with Shannie."
"And I'm trying to right my wrongs but you're not letting me."
"You should've done that two years ago." I said before leaving him dumbfounded by himself.
I might seem like I'm being a typical baby mama but I'm doing what's best for Kai. She's comfortable, I don't want to disturb that for August wanting to just now come into her life.

"You think I should let August see Kai?" I asked Lani.
"That is her father." She said, putting Chauncey into his crib.
Lani finally had the baby last week while I was on my date. He was born right on their bed. Chris had to deliver him because Chauncey wasn't waiting until they got to the hospital.
"But she's so comfortable with Christian."
"That may be true, but that's not her real father. If you keep her from August she's going to resent you for it as she gets older." She told me as we walked out of the nursery.
I knew she was right and that was the last thing I wanted.
"How am I going to explain it to her?"
"She's smart, I'm sure she'll understand." She assured.
We sat at the island in front of all the wedding magazines.
"Did you and Chris figure out a date?" I asked changing the subject.
"May 6th, a month from today."
While Lani was pregnant we pretty much planned everything. She just needs her dress and bridesmaid dresses. Chris also still needs tuxes.
"You should have Iris and Kenya be your other bridesmaids." I referred to her cousins on her mother's side.
She rolled her eyes, "Iris can, not Kenya."
"You can't hold a grudge against her forever."
When Lani was fifteen Kenya slept with her boyfriend. Then she slept with her other boyfriend the following year.
Lani has disliked her ever since and they don't speak at all.
"I'm not letting that bitch in my wedding and I'm damm sure not letting her near my fiancé."
I decided to leave it alone before she got even more mad than she already is.
I left Lani and Chris' with Kai sound asleep. Telling Christian that I was actually considering letting August see Kai was weighing heavy on my mind as I drove home.
I texted him to meet me at my house. There's a chance he might be upset with me, but I hope that he just supports my decision.
"Whay do you want to talk about?" Christian plopped down on the couch after taking Kai to her room.
"I think I should start letting Kai see August." I looked at him waiting for his reaction. I honestly had no idea how he was going to take this.
"....You mean the nigga that didn't want nothing to do with her? The same nigga that tried to practically kill you when you told him you was pregnant?" He asked in disbelief and anger.
"That's her father, Christian."
He shook his head, "No the fuck he's not, I'm the one that's been helping you take care of her for the past two years."
"Chris-"
"I can't make you change your mind. If this is what you want to do, then fine." He got up and stormed out of the house.
I followed him but by the time I opened the door he was already backing out the driveway. I sighed, running my fingers through my hair.
Hopefully he comes around.

After a while of explaining to Kai that Christian wasn't her father the best way I could to a two year old, she finally understood. She's an advanced child for her age, she knows more than she should.
"Where Chwistian?" She asked.
"I don't know." I sighed.
"He come back?"
"I sure hope so bebé."
Christian hasn't been answering my calls or texts. I know he must me heartbroken. Kai is like a daughter to him.
But I can't have my daughter grow up to resent me because I kept her father from her.
The doorbell ringed and Kai ran ahead of me to the door. I opened the door revealing August, the person I was expecting.
"Hi." Kai waved with a big smile.
"How you doing lil mama." August picked her up kissing her cheek.
He looked at me with happiness evident in his eyes. The sight was rather sweet, almost natural.
"Thank you." He said after putting her back down.
"What are you thanking me for?" I asked.
"For rethinking your decision."
"Don't make me regret it, I don't need you walking out of her life again." I told him with all seriousness.
"I'm here to stay." He assured.
He stayed until the sun went down playing with Kai. It's like she was smiling a lot more than before. Maybe she always knew something wasn't right.
I leaned over the stove stirring the pepper steak. August leaned over my shoulder with his body rather close to mines.
I cleared my throat and faced him, "Don't you have wifey to get back to? I'm sure she's very worried."
"She'll be fine." He simply replied.
He moved in closer making me feel uncomfortable. He licked his lips before backing away and leaving the kitchen.
The hell was that?
