Feeling happy at last while holding her child for the first time, she felt like she finally had the moment she ached for when she was in the hospital. But reality kicked in when she thought about what he was wanting. He wanted her to join the undead. She had nothing to lose and everything to gain from it. Her child, never seeing her sister again, finally have pure happiness. But her mother and nieces would miss her, she would never age, and her career. And she thought he wanted her out of the picture, not in it.
"Come on mommy, wets go!"
"Are you sure he wants me to join you instead of having me as supper?"
Lincoln didn't answer  and just stared at her which meant he was just being used as bait to lure her straight to her death.
"Don't go back, stay with mommy."
"No! You didn't want me!"
"Who told you that? Mommy has always wanted you! I fell in love from the time I first heard your little heartbeat and will even after your heart stops."
"Jamie told me."
Her face turned red with anger at hearing this.
"Yeah? Did you know he's a liar and can't tell the truth even if his life depended on it!"
"Awww, still can't let go of the past can you." She head Jamie.
Before she could react to his presence, she was shoved against the wall unable to see who had her.
"Let me go!"
"Go tell the boss I have your mommy." He commanded Lincoln, she heard small footsteps running out of sight.
"Your no better than the ground under my shoes!"
"Your too kind. Now what should we do until the boss gets here?"
"How did you even find me or know I would have came back here?"
"Your wound. I marked you, that means during the time period of change, I can track you down anytime."
She started to think back to Atlas's words, remembering him saying that vampires had no power when the sun was out making them no different than humans. Jamie was no bigger than she was. He wasn't muscular and all he had on her was height. As a vampire that shouldn't matter but in the daylight, it did. She without hesitation pushed off the wall as hard as she could which sent them both flying backwards. He released her to keep from landing on the ground. She caught herself and took the opportunity to run for the stairs. Running up then she heard him not too far behind. She threw herself into her room and locked it, dropping on her hands and knees. She crawled under the bed wear she laid as still as a doll. Next minute she head a loud bang and saw the door fly open.
"Alright, you wanna play games? Than lets play! But you better hope I don't find you!" He would say aggravated while looking around the room. He opened the closet, looked behind the dresser. He walked over toward the bed where he stopped. Knowing what he was going to do, she rolled out from beneath and hopped on top of the bed as he looked.
"There you...are.." He scratched his head at this knowing there was no other place she could be in here.
She rolled off the bed silently and crawled back under when he started to get up.
"Now where did you go? Couldn't have gotten too far." She heard him say in the hallway. Sighing she got out from under the bed and quickly hurried toward the window. Lifting it she hoisted herself out onto the roof.
"There you are!" Jamie was at the window. He tried grabbing her foot but she quicker. She climbed up the roof, but he wasn't far behind.
"Nice underwear, not as nice as ones you wore the night I knocked you up. You were so naive in thinking I actually like you." He laughed.
"Yeah well, your not getting seconds!" She shit back him when she racked the top, standing.
"Better hope I don't catch you than." He stood a few feet from her.
"You wouldn't even have time! Your boss is probably on his way and I love to see how he takes it when he sees you fooling around with me."
"True, but I'll have time to have a snack! Your wound should still be fresh. Your blood isn't like other mundanes, has a sweetness to it that has me addicted."
"Gotta catch me first." She started to quickly walk toward the edge of the roof.
"Oh I will." He started to walk at a much faster pace after her.
She stopped at the edge and looked back to see Jamie was right there.
"I'll jump! It should kill me since concrete is right at the bottom!"
"You wouldn't. Too much of a scared little kitten."
"Watch me." She threw herself off the roof. But he caught her foot and threw her sideways back onto the roof. She started to roll down until she fell off and hit the ground hard. The impact knocked the breath out of her and she was too hurt to move. Jamie jumped off the roof only to walk over to her and straddle her waist.
"Caught you." He smirked. Leaving down, she felt his cold breath on her neck and than his tongue licking up and down where the sound was. Than she felt him drinking her blood, it had her pushing him off her. But her body began to tingle and the pleasure took over any logical thoughts she had. After a few minutes, she felt him get up and pick her up. She was in another world, high on pleasure to even care what was happening. She than felt herself hit the ground only to be picked back up again but by someone else. She just went with until after a few minutes later when the high started to wear off and her senses no longer dulled. She looked around to see she was being carried by Atlas. He was running with her at a quick pace. He ducked into an alley way, setting her down.
"You came back." She would say weakly
"You were right. I was a jerk, I'm sorry for treating you poorly after the kiss."
"It was just..a kiss.." She doubled over to vomit violently.
"He really drained you, I should have gotten there sooner." He felt guilty as he pulled back her hair until she was finished.
"I feel so ill and like I have nothing left in me...I can't even walk or I'll fall over.."
"It's okay. But I'm going to need you to donate a few more drops of blood."
"Why..are you wanting it..?"
"No, I'm going to use it to throw him off your trail."
"But as long as going through the change period, he will always find me.."
"Yes but until night fall, his senses aren't that strong and anything will throw him off. By night fall you should be healed and ready for him."
She nodded and put her trust into him.
