I woke up to Camila slipping away from under me, she was being so gentle, but my subconscious was still so afraid to lose her that the physical feeling of her leaving made me jolt awake as I instinctively tightened my hold on her.
"Hey, sorry, it's okay, I'm just going to make some breakfast for Gabe, he's up already, you can go back to sleep," her voice was soft and how she explained it all made it clear she caught on to my fear.
I nodded and closed my eyes again relaxing, too tired to get up after only three hours of sleep if there wasn't a reason to.
I expected somebody to wake me to take Gabe to school but when I woke up it was almost noon and everything was quiet.
I went to the other room to find Camila with a pair of reading glasses and a huge book in her hands, she was studying.
"Don't you have a class right now?" I asked yawning as I went to sit beside her and rested my face against her arm.
"I didn't want you to wake up alone," she totally knew.
"Oh."
"So after taking Gabe to daycare I checked on Dinah's 'I-just-had-mind-blowing-sex' face and came back here."
That made me laugh so I decided to ask more about that later and I tucked my head under her arm, to nuzzle my face against her ribs as I laid on the couch beside her.
"I can't still believe you're back." Slipped out of my mouth.
She sighed "Lauren, do you realize that eventually, if you hadn't looked for me I would have looked for you?"
"Even if I was still in the business?" I asked unsure.
I felt her shrug, "I think I would have tried to convince you to drop it somehow... I wasn't kidding when I said I couldn't be with you if that was the way you made money."
I nodded and took a hold of her waist.
"Did you miss me?" I asked probably a little childishly, but I was curious.
"You have no idea."
"What's gonna happen now?" I asked again.
"Oh Lauren, we had this talk already" she chuckled, "can't you just let things be?"
I nodded and closed my eyes relaxing, I had her back all to myself.
"How did you set Normani up with Dinah?" I stiffened, I was scared to tell her the truth.
"Uhm... Mani's cousins are in the business, but she's clean, she's totally out of it, she has no idea at all."
Camila hummed as a signal for me to keep going.
"And well, they helped me get out of the loop and she helped me get in contact with them and asked me to set her up with a girl."
"Why didn't you just date her?" was that a trick question?
"Cause I don't date, I've never been looking for somebody to be with, you were-- you are the only exception" I smiled thinking about the first time she met Gabe and they made me sing.
After something like an hour passed with me just appreciating Camila's presence while she studied something kept popping into my mind.
"Is your ex staying at your dorm too?"
She sighed "no, she prefers having her own house."
"Modeling pays well." I didn't mean to say that out loud. Was I being jealous?
