The sound of sobbing woke me up.

I soon realized it wasn't any kid crying.

Camila was.

I almost jumped up and in my dozed state I took a hold of her to have her close to me.

"What's the matter baby girl?" I asked her combing her hair back from her face, but she could barely catch her breath.

"I've got you." I whispered and felt her clinging to my body like her life depended on it, she seemed deadly scared.

"Did you have another nightmare?" I guessed and she nodded between sobs.

"Oh sweets, it's ok. It's all gone now." I held her body close to mine. I could feel her shaking as she slowly found a steady breathing rhythm again.

"It was the fire again." She explained quietly.

I kissed her forehead a few times before pressing mine against hers.

"Was it the kids again?" I asked and she nodded, a new sob escaping her chest. "They are all good, even better, they are perfect, do you wanna check on them? It may help."

She nodded and got up from the bed, I followed her and I was touched when she put her hands on the twins' chests, as to make sure they were both breathing.

Right after that we walked to Gabe's room, where the boy was fast asleep with Nala firmly held against his chest.

Camila knelt in front of him and kissed his head softly.

"Can I make you a chocolate milk?" I asked her when we got out of the kid room and she smiled softly at me before nodding.

I was sitting beside her and I watched her sip from the glass a few times.

"It's almost 4, the twins will wake up soon, do you feel like breastfeeding or bottles?"

I asked trying to make her focus on reality instead of the scary images that haunted her sleep.

"No bottles, thanks, can we watch a movie?" She asked, her big brown eyes would be the end of me.

"At 4 a.m. babe?" I tried to reason but she nodded once again and I had no way to say no to that face.

"I actually just wanna cuddle on the couch, no movie." She said in that childish way of hers, and I could have spent hours just watching her in the loose t-shirt and her panties.

I got up from the chair and dragged her to the couch with me, making her giggle "Was there something wrong with cuddling in bed?" I asked, finally more awake.

She shrugged and layed on top of me before brushing her nose against mine.

"Sometimes I like the couch better." She whispered before biting on my lower lip.

I sighed and I leaned up to kiss her lips, in response she pressed herself down further.

Kissing Camila was incredibly sweet, her lips were so full and soft, and actually still sugary from the chocolate in her milk.

A whine from the other room made us both groan in disappointment

Camila got off of me and I slipped down from the couch to go and pick whichever baby was awake.

When Nathan saw me in the faint light he smiled and in that moment all of it was worth it, the sleep lost, the headaches, the interruptions, all of it, I grabbed him and brought him to Camila that was sitting with her legs crossed on the couch.
