Katelyn_______

It's the first day back at school since the court hearing.

Laying on the grass staring up at the sky was a peaceful way of spending 1st period. The hatred of entering a classroom with my ex best friend and classmates that pretend to tolerate me just didn't really suit my fancy. Plus English is a subject I'm already passing. Bonus of not wanting to sleep. Also I hadn't been at school since my schizophrenia attack. Only a couple of days, Liz Hemmings says that it will help adjust to normal life before the police got invlolved. Maybe I heard her wrong. Either way I'm stuck in school.

Movement out of the corner of my eye catches my attention. Calum walks over to me.
"Ditching class? Katelyn? Never!" Sarcasm dripping off every letter.
"Like you haven't before."
"I'm ditching right now, so yeah, I do it a lot. You on the other hand, not so much. Talk to me, what's up."
"Don't wanna face my peers."
"Alright, I accept that excuse." He plops down beside me and we both end up watching the clouds till 2nd period rolls along.

Unfortunately history is a class I'm struggling at so I stand up, say goodbye to Calum and head off to class. So sad. I walk into class and everybody stares. Even the teacher, well that's new. I sit down in the only available seat - next to Hannah. She scoffs before looking away from me. Shot 'bro'. "Alright class, today we are learning about the Selma March. Is there anything anybody can tell me about it?"

"A chick named Selma decided to march?" Dalton yells out and half the class laughs.

"Good try, but no. Selma March is a one of the events as part of the black civil right movement lead by Martin Luther King Jr..." Even though I should be listening, I can't help but to hear an exchanging of words.

"Oh my gosh, I can't believe you have to sit next to Katelyn!"

"I'll say, beached whale probably reeks of crap."

I roll my eyes and try to concentrate but can't, I think I forgot to take my pills this morning. If it starts getting worse than I'll call Michael, it's no big deal. Highly doubt it would get that bad anyway. Calling Michael means that Michael would stay by me for as long as possible which meant the populars wouldn't leave them alone as long as I'm with them because that's what they said and, AHHHHHHHH. Struggles are real. After what felt like three months, class is finally over. Now for morning tea. I quickly escape the dreaded walls for class and head outside into the fresh air.

Maths comes and goes, so does science. I sat in the back of the class and drowned out the hateful words with music. After knowing what I was supposed to be doing of course. During lunch I head over to the library and decide to stay there. At least I won't be in anyone's way, right? Well, I was proved wrong. Ruby and Jennifer just so happened to walk into the library just as I had made myself comfortable at one of the desks. This should be good.

"Ugh, beached whale is following us everywhere. Ew."

"You do realise the world doesn't revolve around you and you shouldn't think it does." I decide no to respond to them, mainly because they didn't say my name and if I answer I would just be calling myself a beached whale. Ain't no body got time for that.

"Hey, I'm talking to you." My head gets yanked up by my hair and an angry Hannah and Ruby stand in front of me. I just stare at them.

"Can I help you?" I say while raising an eyebrow.

"Ugh, just jump off a bridge already. Freak."

Crap.

They both walk away and I pull out my phone.

Ring, ring, ring.

"Hey."

"Library, left hand corner after walking in, come quickly please."

-Call Ended-

Michael

I get a call from my sister and immediately leave the lunch table.

"Where you going Mike?" Luke calls out.

"Katelyn called, see ya in a bit." I walk over to the library and on the way pass two girls that Katelyn hates. When I arrive at the library I walk through the main entrance and after a quick memory of right and left, head over to the right and corner. Quickly swapping when I realise I've got it wrong.

She was curled up in the corner with some random book in her hands. She clearly couldn't have been reading it. In two minutes she hadn't turned a page or her head. I walk over to her and sit down beside her. Pulling her into my side I hear her breath skip a bit, meaning she's crying but trying to hide it. I kiss the top of her head and just sit there.

Ten minutes later she sits up and rests her head on my shoulder. I look down and her dampened cheeks, red eyes and trembling body. I wrap an arm around her shoulders and rub the furtherest one away from me. I pull a thumbs up and she smiles before doing the same. I stand up before then pulling her up.
"You had something to eat?" She shakes her head, probably not trusting her voice. I grab her hand and walk back to the cafeteria with her trailing behind me.

I sit her down next to Luke before getting in line to order some food. A mince and cheese pie along side a can of lemonade.
I walk back to the table and notice some of the 'popular kids' (as Katelyn calls them) hanging around our table. I place the pie and drink in front of Katelyn.

"Ugh, slutty beached whale now being a gold digger too?" I stare at the girl who said that. Their group laughs at the comment. Katelyn just eats the pie while my mates and I exchange glances. Ashton nods confirming the plan. Luke gets up and heads to the stand that sells bottled water. The freshman still laugh and joke around us pretending like we're all good friends. I stand behind Katelyn with my hand resting on the table over top of her shoulders, in a protective way.

Luke walks back with 8 water bottles and hands two to each of us. Katelyn offers me some of her pie which I gladly take a huge bite out of.

We all unscrew the water bottles and place the caps of the tables. The freshman around us all look at us weirdly. The seniors, juniors and sophomores all go silent. They know what's up.

We all stand up and I whisper for Katelyn to move out the way. When she does 'they' celebrate. Then we let loose.

They girls start screaming and the boys start swearing as everyone in the cafeteria all joins in. Grabbing drink bottles and juice and splashing onto the group of freshman as they run out the door.

A quick glance at my sister and I know she's feeling better. Laughing at the horrible group of kids that just got a taste of what life's really like.

Never in your favour.
