Bea's POV
Therese is a daughter of a sophisticated family which happens to be a good friend of my family. She too has grown to be one and I had witnessed her success and her troubles. To cut the story short, Trey, that's what I call her, is a dear friend of mine. Best friends, if you want to call it that.
With the close bond, she practically knows people who I know and vice versa. And seeing her in the office used to be quite normal actually but since she has become busy with night life and her family's business too, she barely gets to visit me anymore.
Until today...
"Would you like a glass of wine while waiting?"
"I thought you'd never ask. Bei?"
"Nope. Just you."
Therese signalled the waiter to have just one glass of white wine for her. He nodded and took the menu off our table and left. Leaving us more time of chit-chatting or should I say interrogation.
"Wine this early? Wild girl huh?"
"Oh stop those judgemental comments, Bea. It's just wine. Eh ikaw ba?"
"I didn't have any. So what about me?"
"Why didn't you have one? A glass wouldn't do anything bad to you. Actually studies show wine is good for you. Should Jho give permission for you to drink wine ba?" She asked raising an eyebrow on me.
"What? Of course not." I said with a smug on my face.
"Relax Bea. It's just a Jho...ke." She said copying my tone earlier.
The waiter arrived and poured her a glass of wine. We're in a fancy restaurant of her choice, serving badly spelled food just to make it sound sophisticated.
"So, tell me about her."
"There's nothing much to tell other than she's my friend."
"Oh, I thought she's your girlfriend." she said teasing. I gave her a look that warns her to just stop. "Fine, fine. She's not your girlfriend. So paano kayo nagkakilala? Sa office lang din?"
Should I tell her? Oh who am I kidding? I couldn't keep anything from Trey. At least she's one person I can totally be honest with. Even if I'm given rude responses in return, I know at the end of the day, she's still my friend.
I shook my head. "She stays with me."
"Woah? Really? That's not what I expected. Not a girlfriend but she lives with you? That's how you two met?" Words of disbelief being shot out of her mouth.
"It's not what you think. I'm just being someone who's nice."
"Oh don't even lift that I'm-just-being-nice card on me, Bea. I can be nice but not to the point that I'll welcome someone to my home."
"Well, you're not me Trey." I smiled.
"Oh right, I'm not you. So does Tita know about this?" She leaned back and took a sip on her glass. Totally drawn to the conversation now.
"Syempre hindi, what would she say? You know how judgemental she could be. We actually acted like we didn't know each other nung job interview niya."
"Don't tell me you helped her got in too." Eyebrow rising with obviously judgemental eyes.
"No I didn't, Trey. I didn't even know she was having an interview in the office not until I dropped her off the entrance of the building. And believe it or not, it was all her. Mom was pretty impressed on her resumé. She's very holy too, so you get it." That's not me defending Jho, that's me being honest.
