Randy's POV:
I stared at Natalie's picture in my hand and I could feel moments of that night rushing back into my mind.
Flashback:
1 year ago, I met her. The love of my life; my beautiful princess, Natalie. I remember exactly where and when I met her and how. I was walking around one night in a different part of town when I heard some noise. I walked closer to the sound and I realized someone was crying. Me being a really nice person who couldn't really say no to anyone, went to go help. There was a young girl sitting on a bench, sobbing. I hesitated at first, but then walked over to her.
"Um, hi." I said softly.
She slowly lifted her head and I found myself gawking. Even as thousands of tears were sliding down her face and her eyes were red and puffy, she still looked like the prettiest girl I've ever seen. She sniffed and said, "Y-yes?"
"Um, if you don't mind me asking, is there something wrong?"
"It's nothing."
"Are you sure it's nothing I can help with? Don't worry, I'm a nice person and I give pretty good advice."
I smiled a little at her and came and sat down next to her.
"Well, my friend and I, we just had a fight and I'm really worried about her." she started.
"What was the fight about?" I asked.
"Well, my friend has this boyfriend, and I don't like him at all. She thinks I'm jealous of them being together, when I'm really not! I'm just trying to protect her, but she won't let me! I don't want her to get hurt or anything, 'cause I care about her too much."
Well, from that I realized that she doesn't have a boyfriend and that made me happy.
"Well, I think you should continue helping her, because in the end she'll figure out the truth and she'll thank you. I guess if he really is trouble, then it won't be long until that happens and just don't give up."
"Wow, thank you."
As soon as I saw that face brighten up into a smile, my breath was taken away.
"You really are very nice," she added. "My name's Natalie, by the way."
"Oh uh, my name's Randy. Randy Rogers." I responded.
"Nice. So, um, I'll see you 'round then."
Natalie got up and was leaving, I don't know what came over me then, but I just blurted out, "You're really pretty!"
She turned around, smiling and I could feel my face burning up.
"Thank you, you're really handsome." she replied.
I tried to smile at that, but I was too nervous to.
"You have nice hair."
"So do you."
Natalie took a step forward and as I continued to compliment her, she came closer and closer until she was just inches away from me. She held my chin and leaned in close to me.
"You have nice lips." she breathed.
I felt like I couldn't breathe at all, like she had sucked the life out of me. I couldn't control my hand as it reached up and brushed a lock of hair away from her face.
"Kiss me?" I whispered.
I figured she would get angry or slap me like any other girl would, but instead Natalie leaned closer and pressed her lips to mine. It was my first kiss and also the best kiss. All through it, I felt like I was under a spell. A trance I never wanted to get out of. I didn't even realize it when Natalie pulled away or when she walked away, until I heard my phone ringing. It was my mom, she wanted me to get home as soon as possible. When I got back home, I was too dazed to even care what mom was saying to me.
"Whoa, what's wrong with you?" Romeo asked.
"Yeah, it looks like you're in love or something." Riley added.
"I am." I replied.
I brushed past the guys and up to my room. I stayed laying on my bed for a long time, still thinking about Natalie. Even though I've only known her for a little while, I still feel so attached to her. I hoped to see her again tomorrow, so I can ask her out or something. But, tomorrow never again, because my life was destroyed on that same night.
A little later, I turned on the TV to see the weather and there I saw the most disturbing news that everything inside of me died instantly. On the news, I saw her. Natalie. She died in an shooting. I don't know how. I don't who did it. But, that didn't matter at the time. Instead, I blamed myself for her death. If I had found the courage to ask her out then and kept her with me, then this wouldn't have happened. She would've still been with me and safe.
I don't know what happened to me after that, but I just totally went crazy and slammed my fist at the TV screen. Mom and dad demanded to know what my problem was, but how could I tell them that the love of my life was dead, when I really couldn't even believe it? They took me to different doctors, therapists, they tried everything, but nothing worked. I was forever destroyed. I tried my best to forget about her and just be normal again, but I felt like a part of me died along with her. I'll never be normal again. Not without her. I loved her and I can never, ever love anyone as much as I loved her.
Flashback End:
As I told Juliett all this, I felt tears rolling down my eyes and dropping onto the picture. That's when I realized something: how does Juliett know Natalie? How could she possibly know her? Unless...she was that friend she was talking about that night. Could it be possible?
I looked up at Juliett and was surprised at what I saw, she stood there frozen, her eyes wide. Squinting, I saw a few tears glistening in her eyes.
"I-I-I..." she stuttered.
"What is it?" I asked, sniffing.
"I killed your love! I'm the killer! I'm the reason you're in this state!"
My eyes widened as I heard what she said and I could feel anger and sadness arising in my chest.
"WHAT?!"
