Juliett's POV:
The rest of the day went by slower than I would have liked. After my little show in the cafeteria, people have been veering off course whenever I came round and giving me sad looks full of pity, whereas after that period, I never did see Randy again. Except for at the end of the hall, when I was walking to my locker. He no longer looked as angry, but a little sad instead. I watched him carefully as he wove through the crowd of people. He looked to be gliding through them instead of actually walking. People moved out of their ways to make room for his broad shoulders and tall figure.
I made sure to move my eyes away at the right moments and hide behind a trash can or another student, whenever I ended up getting too close to him or he turned his head even a little to the side. But, it was when he was marching towards the exit that I kept my eyes practically glued on to his back. I walked as I watched him walk away and ended up banging right into an open locker.
I gasped in pain and moved my head back to see Romeo's dark eyes peering down at me with an look on his face that try hard as I might, I could never decipher. It was one of both anger and sadness, but I couldn't tell which one was greater.
"Don't even think about it," he warned me. "It's not worth it and it'll never be."
I didn't understand what he was talking about then, but after a while I realized that he meant that Randy was not someone I could ever belong with and I shouldn't try to understand him or his problems.
"That's what you think." I murmured, before walking past his still open locker and towards mine, which was actually the other way, but I didn't feel like walking past Romeo. It was better for him to be the one to see my retreating back than the other way around.
When we were all on the bus - Riley, Romeo, and I - it ended up getting pretty crowded. It was more filled than it had been in the morning, so we had no seats. I have no idea how, but I found myself standing behind Randy's seat and holding onto the railing that was attached to it.
I was trying my best not to get too close to him, but the roads were bumpy and people were pushy and somehow, some way, I ended up getting too close to him. Someone must've pushed me or something, because I accidentally toppled over. My hands fell on Randy's chest and my face was inches from his own. My eyes widened and I started stuttering, "I-I'm, uh, s-s-so sorry, R-R-R-andy! I-I-I mean, I-"
"Just...be careful." he said in a mild voice, that seemed to have surprised the both of us.
I pulled my head back and held on tighter. The bus only seemed to be getting fuller as we sped through the streets. A few minutes later, it finally emptied out to only be crowded up again when it arrived at a new stop.
There was an old man next to me that was probably in his fifties. I saw him eying me as he came onto the bus, but I thought of it as nothing. Until he came over to where he was standing and practically pushed himself onto me. His hand hung close to my legs and I could feel his fingers grazing against my thigh.
I snapped my head up at him and looked at him with disgust, but he just simply smirked back at me with an almost toothless mouth. I tried to move away from him, but there was nowhere for me to go. I looked around helplessly for Riley or Romeo, but there were sitting somewhere else and seemed to be engaged in a serious conversation.
The man got closer to me until I could feel his gross breath invading my nostrils and making it hard for me to breath right.
"Hey, there, honey," he whispered in my ear. "Why do you look so worried, sweetie, I'll do you no harm only pleasure."
I shuddered and tried once again to move away from his touch, when I saw Randy getting out of his seat and walking over to us with angry look on his face. He grabbed me by the wrist and pulled me away from the old geezer.
"Why don't you go look for someone your own age," he spat at the man. "Bastard." he muttered as turned away from his scowling face.
"Sit down." he told me.
"Th-" I started to say.
"Sit!" he cut me off.
I shut my mouth and did as I was told. I turned my head back towards the old guy, he was scowling at us. Randy followed my gaze and glared at him until he fluttered his eyes and looked away. Randy turned his head back then and held onto the railing. He stood in front of me till the whole ride, as if he were my guardian.
"Randy, I-" I tried to apologize him for this morning as well as thank him for just now, when he swiftly turned and stalked off the bus.
I looked out the window and realized that we had finally come to a stop in front of the house. I saw Romeo had already gotten off and Riley was heading that way too, so I quickly rushed to do the same before the bus took off. It wasn't until we were in the house that I saw Randy again; he stormed off into his room - the black one with the tiny white skulls painted on it - and slammed the door hard. Romeo and Riley both acted as if they didn't even know he was home and just walked into the kitchen.
I didn't follow after them. Instead, I walked over to Randy's door and sighed deeply, before leaning in and knocking softly.
"Randy, um, I-if I said something, anything to make you upset at me, then I am really, really sorry." I said.
"Leave me alone!" he yelled back from the other side.
"But, I-"
"Get the hell outta my house!" he pounded his fist against the side of the door, the exact spot where my ear was.
I flinched back and felt tears in my eyes. Riley came over to me then and grabbed a hold of my arm.
"Don't worry, Juliett, just leave him alone to cool his mood," he told me. "Which would be impossible considering the fact that he has such a big temper problem!" he yelled the last part.
Riley took me into the living room and sat me down next to Romeo as he watched TV. He told me he had some important thing to do and would come and join me in a few minutes. I nodded and watched him go. Then, turned my head towards Romeo. Though his eyes were on the TV, I knew he was also watching me at the same time.
"I warned you." he muttered under his breath.
I huffed.
"Oh, I am so not in the mood to put with his nonsense now," I thought angrily to myself. "I swear you better keep that big, fat mouth of your quiet if you wanna keep that pretty boy face of yours intact."
"Is that a threat?" Romeo turned towards me so suddenly I was taken aback.
"Wait, what?" I asked, confused.
"I said, 'Is that a threat?' Or is it maybe a promise?" he smiled a little.
I stopped and realized what he was talking about.
"Wait, did I seriously just say that out loud?" I asked.
"I believe so, yes." he was grinning now.
"Oh." I felt my face burning up a little.
"Well, then let's just see how far you can keep up with your little promise. Oh, I mean, your "threat"." Romeo winked at me.
I smirked at him. "Alright."
I had no idea what was about to go down right now, but as long as it brought me closer to find out just what Randy was all about, I was willing to do whatever it took.
A/N: Hey, sorry about the short chapter. To make up for it though, the next chapter will be in...wait for it...RANDY'S POV! =D Hope y'all like it! =)
