Song: Demons // Imagine Dragons

Nessa's POV

The situation, if it was possible, had gotten worse. Bellamy, Charlotte, Clarke, Finn and I were crowded in a tent right outside camp. Murphy and the rest of the hundred stood just outside. Murphy was calling for Charlotte - face bloody and out for vengeance. "Bring out the girl, Bellamy!" he roared, his voice still hoarse from being hung just a few minutes ago. I really had no idea why I was in here with the others trying to help Charlotte. I mean, she had killed someone. And I had only just met her like an hour ago. But the thought of letting Murphy at her was unthinkable. After our many confrontations I had no doubt the Murphy was capable of murder - he just hadn't had a strong enough reason to yet. And now he did.

"Why, Charlotte?" Bellamy asked the girl. I was also confused why he was so invested in her. Or Clarke for that matter. They both acted like this girl was an angel they had to protect at all costs. Were they ignoring the fact that she stabbed Wells? For no apparent reason? I waited for her explanation.

"I was just trying to slay my demons, like you told me," she explained. Oh of course this all started because of Bellamy, why not? But what was she talking about "slaying her demons"? Wells may have been the Chancellor's son, but he was no demon.

"What the hell is she talking about?" Clarke demanded, obviously thinking the same thing.

"Sh-she misunderstood me," Bellamy tried to explain. He turned to Charlotte, "That is not what I meant." Well, what did you mean then? Because it sounds like you told a twelve year old to get rid of whatever was scaring her. And for some reason that was Wells.

"Bring the girl out, NOW!!" Murphy's voice sounded again.

"Please don't let them hurt me," Charlotte pleaded, close to tears.

Bellamy turned to the three of us and I was surprised at the look of desperation in his eyes. "If you guys have any bright ideas, speak up," he said. None of us did. "Oh, now you stay quiet," he rolled his eyes angrily.

"Those are your boys out there," Finn accused him.

"This is not my fault!" Bellamy countered. "If she'd listened to me those idiots would still be building the wall." Huh. I guess he had wanted to keep it quiet. To prevent something exactly like this from happening. Cold, yes, but a bad idea? No.

"You want to build a society princess?" Murphy called out again. "Let's build a society, bring her out." They weren't going to wait much longer. Sooner or later they'd come in and take her themselves.

"No! Please Bellamy," Charlotte was crying now, tears running down her cheeks. She did look like an innocent twelve year old girl and not the cold-blooded killer she was.

He sighed and put his hands on her shoulders. "Hey, it's gonna be ok," he reassured her softly. "Stay with them." He looked at Clarke and Finn. I raised an eyebrow, surprised at this display of compassion. Bellamy Blake capable of being kind? Reassuring? Who knew. He turned to me and gestured for me to follow him outside. At the entrance of the tent he grabbed my arm and pulled me close to him. "We're going to try and distract them," he whispered. "Give those three enough time to run and hide somewhere. Wait Murphy out before he calms down."

I nodded. "Is he capable of calming down?" I whispered back. "I don't think he's been calm since we landed. He might not even know what that word means." Bellamy shot me a look. "Sorry, just trying to lighten the mood," I said. We turned to the crowd.

"Well, well, look who decided to join us," Murphy said as he sauntered towards Bellamy. He really did look terrible. His hair was matted with blood and stuck to his face. He was almost unrecognizable with all the dirt and dried blood on him, but his eyes shined through with a rage that made my blood run cold. If he found Charlotte, I had no doubt he would kill her.
