Song: Say You Won't Let Go // James Arthur

Nessa's POV

Bellamy and I stood on one side of the drop ship while Murphy paced back and forth between us, holding the gun loosely in his hands. I could tell he was trying to decide which one of us to hurt first. Which one to kill first. I was scared, not going to lie, about what he was going to do to me or Bellamy. But above all I was pissed. Murphy had let Bellamy untie my hands, and I was ready to launch myself at him and punch him till he bled. There were two of us and one of him, we could definitely take him if we attacked at the same time. Even if he did have a gun.

As if reading my thoughts, Murphy turned to us, raising his gun to his shoulder again. "Just in case you're getting any thoughts, Nessie, just know that if either of you tries anything, I will shoot the other where they stand. And if you think you can catch me off guard, you can count on the fact that I'll still get one shot off before you get to me," he muttered. "If you're willing to take that chance."

I looked at Bellamy. I knew Murphy was right, and I couldn't chance him killing Bellamy because of me. I had gotten us into this mess and I'd have to try and find a way out of it.

"Now, I've thought long and hard about what I wanted to do to you, Bellamy. How I could repay you for kicking the box out from under me and hanging me for a crime I didn't commit," Murphy said, starting to pace again.

"Murphy, I told you, I was just giving the people-" Bellamy started.

"What they wanted, I know, I've heard your bullshit already. Doesn't change the fact that you did it," Murphy spat back. "Originally I was going to hang you. An eye for an eye and all that. But now that you're both here, I have something else in mind." Ice-cold fear flooded my veins at his words. I saw the look in Murphy's eyes as he stared at me, and I knew I was going to die first. Almost reflexively, I reached out and grabbed Bellamy's hand. He flinched at the contact, obviously surprised, but squeezed my hand back when he saw the look on my face. Murphy reached behind him and grabbed a bundle of seat belts, throwing them at Bellamy's feet.

"Start tying," he commanded Bellamy, his gun trained on me. At first, Bellamy didn't move. I flinched as a shot rang out and a bullet whizzed past my head.

"I thought I was being pretty clear. I said, start tying," Murphy ordered again.

"Bellamy? Nessa? Are you ok?" Octavia's frightened voice came out of the radio near Murphy. They had obviously heard the gunshot outside the dropship.

"Want her to know you're ok?" Murphy said. "Start. Tying." Bellamy complied, starting to tie the seatbelts together.

"Bellamy, do you copy?" Octavia's voice came again.

"I'm fine," Bellamy answered. "Just a misfire. Now stop worrying about me and get back to work, all of you. And tell Raven to hurry her ass up." My ears pricked up at that. He and Raven must have come up with some sort of plan while he was still out there. I began to feel a slight sense of hope that we might make it out of this unscathed. Raven would pull through.

"Ok, now tie those two ends together," Murphy commanded, taking the radio away. Bellamy complied. "All right, now get up and toss it over."

Bellamy looked down at the makeshift noose in his hands. "I thought you said you had something different in mind," he asked Murphy as he threw it over a beam in the ceiling.

Murphy smiled. "Oh, I do," he replied. Then he turned to look at me. "Ladies first."

Dread filled my stomach. If I was being honest, I had seen this coming. I walked over to where Bellamy had hung the seat belts. My heart felt like it would beat out of my chest. I tried to keep my hands from shaking. I wouldn't give Murphy the satisfaction of seeing how scared I was.
