Norman had finally answered me and now I'm sitting outside of the house, my mouth gaping open. I couldn't believe that this is where we were going to be. It was a beautiful stone house, the door was one of those glass ones, but the glass distorted your view, so you really couldn't see in. The roof curved to a peak but then stretched straight out. It looked like it had three floors, not including the attic at the top of the peak. I wonder whose house this is and if they were going to like me. My fingers grasped the steering wheel tightly, so tightly my knuckles were white. My heart was thudding in my chest and, at one point, I thought it was in my throat as if it had shifted up there. I shakily pulled my key from the ignition and opened my door. Slowly I got out of the car and pressed the automatic lock. I shut the door and put my keys in my clutch. My eyes were still on the house and I didn't hear anyone coming up to me until I heard a hello and someone was waving their hand in front of my face. I jumped and looked to see who it was.
"Norman!" I scolded, but the smile was still on my face.
"What? It wasn't like I snuck up on you. If I were to do that, I would have come from behind," He smirked and I couldn't help but feel myself fall for him even more than I had already.
"Whatever," I mumbled playfully smacking his shoulder, him feigning shock and hurt and I just shook my head laughing.
"You ready?" He asked me, offering me his arm. I just nodded and looped my arm through his, taking in his appearance. He was wearing a pair of dark jeans and a band shirt, which made me feel somewhat overdressed.
"So....whose house is this?"
"Stephen's, I knew him for a while now."
I nodded my head and walked up to the front door with him. He rang the doorbell and moved to stroke my hand gently and I knew that he could tell that I was nervous. I was trying to keep myself calm and not shake. I could feel myself starting to feel a bit better and I smiled at him softly, thankful that he was being so sweet with me. The door opened to reveal a man with short, dark hair and a beard, "Norman!" He shouted and moved to give him a hug, Norman returning it and then introducing me, my lips curving up in a nervous smile.
"Hi, Rae!" The man greeted, seeming to have been drunk or just a really happy person.
"Hello," I said, my voice coming out shaky but yet louder than I had expected it too.
Norman's hand rested on my lower back and he moved me inside, my eyes scoping out the place and it was just as beautiful as it was from the outside.
"There is no need to be shy or nervous here. We are all friends," Stephen shouted, Norman having introduced him to me.
"Okay," I said, not knowing what else to say and I couldn't help but feel awkward, although I was really trying to push it down. I wanted to do this. I hated the fact that I couldn't help but feel nervous around people.
Norman kept his hand on my back as he rubbed soothing circles into it. I could feel myself calming down and smiling at some people. It wasn't too crowded in here. The living room was huge with two couches that met in the middle but were titled on an angle. The floor was hardwood and shone as if they were scrubbed for tonight. He lead me around the room and introduced me to the few people that were there, before he lead us to an open part of the couch, after grabbing both of us a drink. I thanked him as I took the cup from him, sipping from the wine glass, shocked that it wasn't red solo cups. Which is something I thought was at all parties, just like I had thought that there would be more people here but there weren't many. It seemed to be more intimate than what I thought.
