Author's note:
So, I miss having so many reads and votes and comments on this story. That is what I get for having my anger get the best of me. Well here is Chapter 22 and I know it is late and short, but I felt like it was needed!
----------------------------------------------
I watched Mingus as I saw him lean a bit towards the girl and I couldn't help but chuckle having seen his father pull that move. I could tell that the girl was into the boy and I shook my head, clearing my throat as I walked up to them. The girl looked to me and gave me a sweet smile and I returned it, wrapping an arm around Mingus, "What is going on here?" I asked and I could tell Mingus was a little bit embarrassed by the small dusting of pink on his cheeks. I hoped that I was doing his father proud. "Nothing," Mingus mumbled as he gave the girl a small wave and we began to walk away. "You are just like my dad," Mingus said, but I could tell he wasn't really upset about that and it made me feel better. I don't know if I could handle it if he was mad at me. I just wanted him and I to get along.
Norman was back out, holding a bag and looking at the bike that was still there. I chuckled to myself and wished that I could afford to buy him another bike, although I am sure he has a lot of them. Mingus and I walked up to him and he gave us a smile, wrapping his arm around my shoulders.
"What did you two get up to?" He asked us and I looked to Mingus who was pleading, with his eyes, for me not to tell his father about the girl. I wanted to be on his good side but I couldn't help but think about Norman and if he would be upset with me if I didn't tell him about it. I bit my bottom lip and smiled at Norman, "Nothing." That was all that I told him and I could see the look of relief on his son's face and I hoped that I had made the right decision. If Mingus ever got serious with the girl then that is when he would tell his father. I was going to leave it up to him because it was his life. Norm began to walk steering me with him and Mingus followed along. I could feel how cold my nose was and that it was running. I sniffled a bit and shoved my hands into my pockets as I leaned into Norman. I could smell the scent of his cologne mixing in with his own natural scent. I couldn't help but close my eyes as I took it in and knew I had to get him a bottle of that along with something else. I could also bake him a cake, that could be another thing that I could do. I felt a wave of relief wash over me as I figured out some of what I was going to do for him. I had never really had to shop for anyone else but my parents, and they were easy to shop for.
"How about we get some ice cream?" I heard Norman ask and then Mingus cheer, causing me to shake my head and go along with them. I wasn't usually wanting ice cream when it was this cold but if they wanted it, oh well. I knew that they only wanted it because we happened to be passing by an ice cream parlor. The scent of baking cones just beckoning us to come in. Norman rushed to the door and opened it for Mingus and I, thanking him we both walked in and up to the counter. The rush of warmth washing over us as we let out a sigh of relief. It actually made my nose feel numb along with my toes. Norman already knew what he wanted along with Mingus and they ordered as I looked up at the menu and bit my lip. There were so many good combinations and flavors that the shop was offering and I decided to go for a twist. It was simple and I hated being overwhelmed with decisions and so I went to something that I knew. Norman picked on me, calling me lame and I stuck my tongue out at him like a child. We found a back table and sat down at it, Mingus on one side and Norman and I took the other side across from the boy. Our backs were to the door, just in case if anyone else came in. We all talked and laughed as we ate our ice cream, my brain instantly freezing. They laughed at me and I just pouted at the both of them, causing both of them to chuckle.
It was moments like these that I wished wouldn't end. I felt like we were a family and I couldn't help but think about the future. Were him and I going to be together or maybe we were going to be friends. Either way I don't think he is going anywhere anytime soon. He was like a constant in my life and I wasn't complaining about that. I knew that soon he would have to go back to shooting The Walking Dead, those were the days that I was dreading. I wonder if we were going to keep in touch with each other. I know that I would try my hardest but I wasn't the best at that. I continued to eat my ice cream but with less enthusiasm and I think Norman picked up on that because he nudged me with his elbow and I looked to him. He gave me a look and I just shook my head, putting a small smile on my face. We finished our cold treat and headed out. Mingus wanted to help shop some for the party and I knew he wasn't going to let it go so now we are in Party City trying to find some things. It was weird to think that Norman would go here but he seemed to be at ease in the store, looking over decorations and mumbling to himself. I chuckled as I watched him, taking a photo on my phone and smiling before I closed out the camera. Once I slipped the phone in my pocket I looked up and saw Norman looking at me. "What?" I asked him, with some humor dancing in my eyes. "Delete it," he said although I know he didn't really mean it. I shook my head and squealed when he started to chase me. Mingus putting his head in his hands and acting embarrassed but I could tell he was laughing. It was pretty bad when we were acting more like children then the teenager.
We attracted many looks but settled down as he asked me about some decorations. I looked to them and pointed to the ones that I liked and he nodded his head. It felt good that he was letting me in on some of the decisions for this party even though we weren't together. I bit my lip as I looked over some of the headpieces that they had and wondered if we should get any of these. I knew that the cast of The Walking Dead were invited and didn't know how they all celebrated. This was my first party with Norman and I just wanted it to be perfect and I was nervous. I will admit that I had been trying to plan out my outfit already even though I had a few days to prepare for it. Norman had been in another aisle as I continued to browse, I was wrapped up in what I was looking at that I didn't hear him come up until he wrapped his arms around me. His chin rested on my shoulder and I was proud of myself for not jumping when he came up. I guess I knew it was him.
"I think we should get these," he said taking one of the packages from my hand, his breath hitting my neck and causing me to shiver in his arms as he keeps me close, Mingus having came up with some things. I think he had more fun than both Norman and I have. Norman pulled away from me and I wanted to whine when his warmth was gone but we had started to head towards the counter to check out. I watched as Norman pulled his wallet out and take out his card, handing it over before grabbing everything after we were done. I grabbed some of the bags although Norman protested and said that he could carry them, but I waved him off.
"I think today was one of the best days I have had in a while," I told Mingus and Norman, and they both nodded and smiled at me when we heard gasps and I knew that Norman had been spotted. I bit my lip as three teenagers come up to him, all of them actually having a Daryl Dixon t-shirt on. I stepped back and watched as he interacted with them. It was sweet to watch and you could tell that he appreciated them and he wouldn't be anywhere without them. They squealed when he took a picture with him and they thanked him profusely. I chuckled as he told them it was alright and waved to them as they went on their way. It was actually the first time that I had seen him interact with his fans.
"That was one of the quickest fan interactions I've witnessed," Mingus said, nudging his father with his shoulder and I chuckle as we continue to walk towards Norman's place. This would only be the second time that I have been there because he always visited me. I loved his place though, it was roomier than mine was and I was a little bit jealous. Mingus was on his phone a lot and I was wondering if it was with the girl that he was hitting on in the store. He saw me looking at him and I wiggled my eyebrows, picking on him and making his cheek flush. I chuckled to myself and looked to see Norman looking at me with his eyebrow raised. I chuckled and shrugged my shoulders at him, feeling bad for keeping something from him.
He opened the door for us and we all plopped on the couch, leaving the bags by the now closed front door. I closed my eyes as I felt the warmth envelop me, the sound of a door opening and closing met my ears before I felt the couch dip next to me and my eyes popped open. I saw it was just Norman and I and he was looking at me, my cheeks flushed as I removed my jacket planning on staying for as long as Norman wants me. I bit my lip as he kept looking at me, "What?" He slowly moves closer to me, his hand coming up to move a piece of my hair out of my face before cupping my cheek. One of his fingers ran along my bottom lip as he slowly leaned in and replaced his finger with his lips. They slowly danced together in a soft kiss and it made my heart race at the fact that he was kissing me. Was I dreaming? If so I hope that I didn't wake up soon. I moved closer to him as I wrapped my arms around his neck. Everything that happened between us flew out of my mind as we continued to kiss, his tongue sweeping across my bottom lip. My lips parted as his tongue slowly delved into my mouth and rubbed against my own. Slowly we were leaning back, his body slowly covering my own as we continued to make out like a couple of teenagers. Fingers tangled in each other's hair as the room began to get hotter than it was.
A clearing of a throat caused us to break apart from the kiss, my lips swollen from it. My eyes were wide as we both looked towards Mingus who was standing there. I hid my face in Norman's chest. We were just caught by his son and I was mortified.
