Progress being made

I walk into the gym the day after my battle with Kyle. I look at the kids who I beat before and I walk right past them and I confront the leader of the gym. Alright, she beat me before but this time i'm ready, I have my wingull and i'm starting to control Ralts better, I tell myself.

She looks at me and smiles, "You look confident".

"That's because I've grown a bit more since our last battle...both me and my pokemon have", I say to her with courage in my eyes.

"We battled a couple of days ago...it really hasnt been all that long", she says pushing her hair back. I give an awkward look and rub the back of my head and laugh a bit.

"look, point is i'm ready this time, I can take you on with 2 pokemon only", I say holding up the two pokeballs in both hands, my wingull and my Ralts.

She narrows her eyes at me and smirks, "Would you kindly demonstrate what you and your pokemon have learned together?"

"Gladly Roxanne...", I say as I send out my Ralts. I might as well use her first to make her happy at the very least. Roxanne sent out her Geodude. Ralts horn starts to glow. She must remember the time we lost and saved this moment for revenge. My mind couldn't decide whether or not to keep going on the path that this is going on. Ralts used confusion which knocked back Geodude. Roxanne looked confused as if the move was focused on her, but quickly brought back her battle expression and commanded Geodude to use rock throw. It landed knocking Ralts back to me and I caught her and put her back down. Her horn glowed blood red and my fear started to build. Without me saying, Ralts teleported behind Geodude and used disarming voice. My eyes widened, when did she learn this move? Nevertheless, the Geodude fainted. Ralts smiled and looked at Roxanne her horn still glowing making Roxanne step back a few. I decided to return Ralts, but when the laser came out to return her, it didn't even affect her. Roxanne was hesitant about sending out Nosepass, but she did. The very second Nosepass came out, Ralts used confusion which made Nosepass fall backward in pain. Ralts didn't let up though, she smiled as she kept using that move and I closed my eyes tight so I didn't have to watch. This went on for too long. Ralts was toying with Roxanne and torturing Nosepass. I didn't want to do anything, but the thing that made me change my current state of mind was me hearing Roxanne whisper, "stop...".

I open my eyes and I yell Ralts to stop. She doesn't for a second, but then she does and Nosepass tries to get up but fainted in his tracks. I return Ralts and it actually worked this time. Roxanne took a couple deep breathes and shook her head and walked over to me.

"I don't know what you did...but you beat me in a way I've never seen before. Seems I still have so much to learn. You've earned this badge and this TM, it contains rock tomb. Remember a TM can only be used once so use it wisely", Roxanne says as she steps back. I smile and nod. I turn to leave and I walk away. I may have kinda cheated, but I know this is progress being made when it comes to Ralts and my life as a trainer in general. As I was leaving, I couldn't help but feel that something was wrong. I felt a strange  aura from Roxanne as I was walking away, but I just brushed it off as she just being mad or sad she lost.

Outside of the gym, I smiled as I examined my first gym badge. I was so happy that I was finally getting somewhere.

"Get Out! Get outta the way!", yelled a voice coming from ahead of me. I look up, being interrupted from being ecstatic about my gym badge, to see a Team Magma grunt running out of the Devon corp. building who then turns and heads north.

Shortly after him, the guy I helped out in the forest a couple days ago appeared yelling, "Wait! Pleeeaaase! Don't take my goods!". Well time to be a hero again, I say in my head, its the thing I do best of course. Actually no it isn't but I really like to pretend. I run after them and at the outskirt of the city the guy is just standing there looking off into the forest. Is he out of breath or...something...he looks in shape enough. I walk over to him and he notices me right away and says, "Oh it's you! That fantastic trainer who helped me in the woods!".

"Hahaha...no way...I totally dont remember you dude", I say sarcastically.

"You have to help me, I was robbed by that Team Magma member-"

     "No no, I saw that...."

"And I have to get the Devon Goods back or else i'll be in big trouble!", he says a bit teary eyed. I sigh and take off into the woods. Well I first need to think about where the guy ran off to. I guess i'll start by following the route. On my way I come across more trainers who were getting in my way again! After battling them, as time consuming as that was, I finally get to a cave entrance. Outside of it was an old man. I go over to him and he tells me that his lovely Wingull, Peeko, was taken from him by the Team Magma member! My eyes widened. I couldn't believe what I heard, he stole a wingull! After everything I've been through after watching all those Wingulls go down, i'm not just going to let a Team Magma member ruin another one! I charge into the cave after the member and it seems like his path was blocked by some rocks he couldn't get by.

He turns to me and smirks,  "You want some? Come get some!". I accept his challenge by running straight toward him and when I get close enough I stop and confront him like a badass. "Ah! This hostage pokemon turned out to be useless, and to think I made a getaway in this tunnel to nowhere!", he says angrily.

"Honestly it was your own fault for not knowing about this tunnel beforehand....", I shrug a bit.

"Just shut up and battle me!", he says sending out a Poochyena. Oh my god, when am I not gonna come into contact with newbies! If I want to gain experience being a hero, I need to face the strong guys! Not some guy who barely started a few days ago. Either way I send out Torchic. I constantly make Torchic use ember which turns to work out amazingly. The pooch goes down and I win the battle...but at what cost. I tear up a bit. "Ugh, my career in crime came to a halting stop!", the member growls. What the hell, WHAT CAREER?! "This isn't right, the boss told me this would be a slick-and-easy type of job to pull. All I had to do was steal some kind of package and that was it! You want it back so badly you can take it!", he says as he shoves me the package and runs off with tears in his eyes. I honestly felt bad for 5 seconds.

After the Grunt ran off, the old man came into the cave, "Peeko! i'm so glad youre safe! Peeko owes you her life".

"You know I think pokemon should speak for themselves sir...", I say slightly concerned for the wingull for various reasons.

"Call me Mr. Briney, and you are?"

"The names Daniel Caper, the upcoming champion of Hoenn!"

"Ah, so you are Daniel....good luck with that kid...Ahem, if there's anything that troubles you, dont hesitate to tell me", the old man said that as if I wasn't standing right in front of him.

"so if I just robbed I should come and tell you...", I say with a tired look on my face. He just doesn't think before he says anything does he?

"You can usually find me in my cottage near the Petalburg Woods", he says as he turns to Peeko, "Come Peeko, we should make our way back home", and Peeko chirps in agreement and they both walk off happily. I rub the back of my head and look down to see Torchic who I didn't return back to her pokeball asleep on my foot. I smile and nudge her a bit to wake her up and when she wakes she suddenly turns into a white silhouette. I panicked a bit not knowing what was happening but then I saw she was changing forms. She's evolving!!

I smiled greatly finally evolving one of my pokemon...but I was terrified because now one pokemon will try to get more attention through horrifying means...
