I watched and stood before my agonizing pokemon. I have never been more afraid in my life. I couldn't move, I couldn't speak, I couldn't do anything but think about how this is going to end. People from the beach looked towards the light, everyone in the city watched this happen. Some brushed it off as me practicing a pokemon move, others had genuine concern for what was occurring. I didn't know what to do. Kyle told me the Necklace she was wearing would prevent her powers from ever going out of control but...how much of that was true. I watched and stared and decided to do my first act as hero. I have calmed her before but this time was the most crucial time to ever calm her down. I clenched my fist, I clenched my teeth and through sheer willpower i forced myself to take a step toward her. I took another and another blocking my eyes from the bright light of her evolution. I got to a close enough distance and decided to call out to her.
"KIRLIA-"
An explosion of light happened and I felt myself being blown away and my vision going pure white, and then black.
Kyle holds up the necklace that Kirlia had been wearing, "Do you know what this stone is? It's called an everstone. Steven once gave this to me when I went through this with Gallade...said to prevent a pokemon from evolving and since it was a rare everstone, it was said to decrease the capabilities of certain pokemon but...I guess when I when we used it, we wore it out". I didn't respond to him. Its more as if I didn't to, still lost in my own thought. Kyle took off his sunglasses and placed them down on the table. He placed the necklace down and sighed. I don't blame him for being upset at my unresponsiveness. I wasn't really in the mood for a discussion anyway. "I just want to help you man...okay? I'm here to protect you".
I laughed. My bandaged hand rubbing my head and then i rub my left cheek which had a patch on it.
"Protect me...heh...yeah, you seem great at your job".
Kyle was silent glaring at me until he spoke, "So I'm the bad guy now?"
"You knew what this was...do not act like you didn't", tears were forming in my eyes.
"Of course I knew...I knew it all from the start because I've went through this before and I wanted to prevent the same thing from happening so I tried my best to pursue my goals and keep you safe all at the same time", Kyle said keeping a stern face while his Gallade leaned on the wall behind him.
"Then why didn't you do anything, why didn't you tell me what I could do to prevent this, the things I could've done differently and prevented this stupid mess from affecting everyone in Hoenn, INSTEAD OF GIVING ME A STUPID NECKLACE THAT DIDN'T EVEN WORK", I picked up the necklace and threw it at him and he dodged it and Gallade caught it.
Kyle looked down, "Look...it worked for me and...I just thought that-"
"You thought what?!! History was gonna repeat itself and produce the same results as when it happened to you?", I said slamming my hand on the table, tears in my eyes, "Things change Kyle! Kirlia was a new type of breed down the line probably from where your Gallade came from!".
Kyle kept his head down, "You should probably start calling her Gardevoir now..."
I get up and I walked to the opposite wall and I punch it as hard as I can, "I just want to know...where did i go wrong...?". I slowly sink to my knees crying. I have never had this experience before and I don't think I was ever going to be able to handle this like an adult...or like a Hero.
"Want me to tell you or not...", Kyle said looking up, slicking his hair back taking a deep breath interrupting my crying, "I can tell you it all, why we're in Mauville City, Why you saw Rachel in a coma...and why Gardevoir is missing".
I slowly get up and I wipe my eyes and nose and I look at Kyle, "I want you to start from the beginning..."
"Tell me your story..."
