It was cold...I knew that for sure
Everything froze for good while...it was like life was taunting me...kicking a man while he was down...seems like something life would do isn't it...
"I'm just a kid you know...what could I possibly do...?"
"Well, you did manage to get an enraged Gardevoir back to her senses so from a personal standpoint, I think you're capable of doing whatever you want now..."
An Aggron holding nothing back, about to use Dragon Claw on me. Specifically me. I couldn't believe it until it was actually happening before me and my life up to that point was flashing before my eyes. My Mom and Dad taking care of me, dreams of being a pokemon trainer, seeing that Gardevoir in that contest which made me want one in the first place. Steven fully intended to get rid of Gardevoir by any means possible, even if it meant committing murder in order to get to her. That's pretty much what he did when he gathered all those trainers anyway. Their bodies scattered across Sootopolis. He had used them as meat shields along with their pokemon. I closed my eyes and I couldn't even breathe and everything went still.

When I opened my eyes, I couldn't feel anything, and I couldn't believe what I saw. I couldn't believe it until it was actually happening before me. Kyle had taken the hit for me, completely out of nowhere, he had taken the full strength of the Aggron's attack to make my death his own. I watched and for the first time I couldn't feel anything. I wasn't scared, I wasn't angry, I just felt nothing. When his body hit the floor I stared. I stared for what seemed like forever.
I took a deep breath and I screamed
Gardevoir looked at me in horror as time and space and reality caught up with me. I stood up slowly and I looked up at the cliff where Steven had been spectating and with tears of anger in my eyes I glare. I don't say anything, I just glare. I mean what can I really say at this point, the only person who I considered a friend just died right in front of me, give me a break.
"Gardevoir...Teleport", I said trying to seem calm while holding her hand. She nodded and knew immediately where I wanted to go. I closed my eyes and when I opened them, I was standing right in front of Steven and he fell backward onto the ground startled and with fear. I slowly walk toward him and he starts crawling backward slowly but I step over him and I grab his collar tightly, "Tell me what you did...".
"I-I was just-", Steven said trying to compose himself
"TELL ME!"
"I was using my Aggron to try and take out Gardevoir for good"
"You listen to me and you listen well Steven...You killed my friend...one who told me they BELIEVED IN ME!!... Gardevoir is my pokemon, and I'm willing to accept any sort of punishment and responsibility for what she's done, but right now one thing matters to me the most"
"Look, Kid...I was just-"
"What matters is that you pay!", and after saying that I reel my fist back and I aim directly for the center of his face and I punch as hard as I can. I don't know my own strength, but I tried to hit him so hard that I made sure that I drew blood. It knocked him out immediately. Way to go Steven, scratch 'knocked out by a child' off the bucket list. Right before I was going to throw my second punch, someone grabbed my arm to stop me. I looked right at them with the lingering rage in my eyes and to my surprise it was Gallade. She looked at me with sad eyes as they were stopping me.
"Why?! You of all pokemon should know how I feel right now!!"
"Yes I do...but you shouldn't lose yourself in this or you'll end up just like many others who have lost their minds...Gardevoir, Steven, even I have lost myself...", Gallade said in a calming voice.
I look at her and my anger starts to soothe itself and I get off of Stephen and I look back down over at Kyle and I see him breathing slightly. My eyes widened and I grab Gardevoir's hand, "Teleport back to Kyle!". She had been silent this whole time and quite possibly the most compliant I have ever seen her. I guess I scared her pretty bad. We get back in front of Kyle and I look over his body and I can tell that he won't last much longer. Gallade was giving Aggron a Death Glare. So much so that if he even thought about looking in this direction, there would consequences. I grab Kyle's arm and I look down at him, "You didn't have to do this for me Kyle..."
He laughs a bit and coughs, "Of course I did...You're a kid...A Young dumb Kid who has a dream..."
"But why, you could've done anything else other than this!", Tears begin to form again.
"I guess this is my way of atoning, letting history repeat itself over again, my failure to fix something I thought I did a really long time ago...but that's a distant memory now...", He coughs and a small amount of blood comes out. I look over him one last time.
"Kyle...There's no way I could ever thank you...nothing in my life will ever be able to repay you for everything that you've done for me!".
"Sure there is...", He coughs, "I'll just be waiting for it....for a...really....really long time...Here, take these with you, and remember...your adventure isn't over..." and with that, he lays his head down gently, takes out two small stones and gives them to me. He smiles as his final breath leaves his body. My eyes look in horror and Gardevoir looks at Kyle and starts to shed a tear and I can hear Gallade, still giving Aggron a death glare, sniffle a bit after hearing our conversation. I stand up slowly still looking down at him and I suddenly look over at Aggron who gets returned. I looked over to where Steven was and he is holding his face and he's growling in anger.
