Chapter 16-If only...why am I so jelous over power?

Tanner's POV

Multitasking eh? Sounds like something that might take a while for me to master. If I have it though, I don't see it even if I won that obstacle course. Of course Tess sees her abilities but I have no clue where mine are. Why can't I just be invisible or have the fastest speed? No I get something that some people are born with. Not many people can multitask efficiently but, some can. That being said, I don't feel like my power is special or even the slightest bit fun.

I wouldn't be surprised if a prank war started soon. Everyone will be, planning great things. What would I be able to do? Oh I know! Cook some pancakes and color some unicorns! I mean come on! My powers are no fun. The best I can do is eat and play video games at the same ti-wait I already do that. See what I mean though!

"Dude! Watch this!"Vincent cheers. I nod towards him. "Ask me any math problem, history question, or any random thing you want to know."He tells me and I think for a second.

"Um....How many endangered species are there right now?"I question. That is the best I got? I am going weak! I am falling apart every minute!

"That would be 16,306"He answers calmly. Then he smiles and smirks at me. "Search it up, see if I am right,"He tells me and I do as he told me. If he is right this is complete bull.

I nod and take out my phone. I search it up and he is correct. "Wow that is some power you have there," I smile. I rather have that than mine! I want to know unlimited information!

"No need for your phone! I am the new internet! It is weird though, I don't even think about it! It just comes out of my mouth naturally. It isn't the most fun power but it sure is pretty helpful and cool!"Vincent smiles and walks into the kitchen.

Even his power is better! His is extremely helpful and I am still here tying my shoes and walking at the same time! Look at my skills! Actually don't, I done want to kill you with boredom. That is something that no person should ever experience.

"Do you want to grab some lunch with me outside?They set up a nice picnic for all of us today,"I hear a voice question me and a red hair plops down next to me. That is when I realize it is Sonya. Well this is interesting. She is usually one of the ones to just go solo. I won't deny that I might have some feelings though. She is quiet but at the same time really interesting and knows just what to say. She is pretty chill too.

"Sure! Why such a drastic move?"I laugh as we get up and make our way outside. She shrugs and smiles.

"I guess I was a little bored of always going solo or joining the big group that you go to when you are bored,"She explains and I nod. She red hair moves perfectly as she walks.

"Seems reasonable,"I smile as I step outside. It is really nice out today. It is a perfect day to have a little break and a fielding. Now that we have all our powers and are starting to get used to them. I wonder what Sonya thinks of her powers. I would much rather become invisible than be able to do more than a few things at once.

"So...are you liking your powers?"She questions as we each get a plate and start picking out what we want. I shrug.

"They are alright I guess. I just wish I had something just a little better. I much rather have your power, if that is what you are wondering,"I tell her and she lets out a small laugh.

"Yeah I am pretty lucky compared to some of the other powers. I think the most powerful against humans is mind reading though,"She admits taking a sip of water. I nod.

"I agree. There is too much information for people with that ability to figure out. Somethings just shouldn't be thought about but just are. You know what I mean?"I ask.

She takes a strawberry of her plate and puts it to her mouth. Than she takes a bite and stares at me. "I know what you mean. People would hate me if I expressed every single one of my feelings. Let's be honest though, a lot of people would hate a lot of other people. I wouldn't be surprised and I am sure that I wouldn't be the only hated one. I know Gianna and Gav-okay I know Gianna is a responsible person. However I feel like Gavin isn't the most trustworthy but it could be worse. It could be Luke! You know how Luke is!"Sonya states, what is probably the truest thing I heard all week,and talks using hand gestures. I have never agreed with someone more in my life before right now. Do all people have these thoughts like Sonya and I. I know that it wouldn't be uncommon.

"On a different note. Would you like a cookie?"I ask her as I get up. I watch as she contemplates in her head if she wants one. She sighs,shrugging and leans back into the grass.

"Sure,"She says stretching her arms up above her head and sitting back up just in time for me to return with the cookies.

"Thank you,"She thanks as I hand her the cookie.

"Chocolate chip right?"She questions observing her cookie.

"No raisin,"I joke and she puts it down on her plate.

"No thanks,"She says looking a little disappointed and disgusted. I laugh and she gives me a funny look.

"I am just joking. They are chocolate chip. I don't like raisin either. In fact, it is the reason why I always have trust issues when picking out cookies,"I joke and she starts laughing. She then picks up her cookie and bites into it.

"These must have been freshly baked, they are still warm and gooey,"She points out and she shoes me that cookie that she bit into. I nod. "I love them like that though,"She smiles.

"Whe-

My sentence gets cut off my Sonya's phone going off. She looks down and sighs. "Shoot. I forgot I was supposed to go with crystal at 1. Do you mind if I leave now?"she asks.

I don't even think there is an option of no, I can't hold her against her will. She has that freedom. Plus I would look and sound like a total jerk. Plus she asked me to have lunch. Even...if I thought it was a fantastic idea and a great way of bonding. I shake my head and smiles at her. "Of course not! You don't even need my permission,"I laugh and she smiles.

"Yeah sorry I have to leave so soon, since I invited you to eat with me. Thanks for understanding,"She smiles as gets up wiping some little pieces of grass of her. I wave and she smiles walking away.

Okay so I may not have the powers I want but I may soon possibly have the girl I want.
