Chapter 22-Sapphire can be in pictures and rings

Paige's POV

It is starting to get really cold out and I am starting to get really antsy. We are all getting tired and our thoughts are totally blanking. Every five minutes we check in to see if we have any ideas. It is not like our powers are helping with this mission right now.

"Any ideas?"Aden speaks up for the next check in.

"Nope,"Tess sighs.

"Not yet,"I confirm.

"Yeah me neither,"Aden says as he looks around.

"I already know there is a deeper meaning to this mission,"Austin says as we walk through the woods. At least someone seems to be thinking. Tess has the skills to think like this she just can't think of anything. It is not like we have the powers as other groups and someone with the power of intelligence.

"Why would you say that?"Tess questions and Austin smiles.

"Sapphire? Come on! Mrs.Astro might be over her head but she missions usually mean something. Some stupid stones that mean nothing aren't teaching us anything. I feel like there is a deeper meaning,"Austin explains. He has a point and I start thinking.

"Do you think there are different ways to find sapphire and she wants us to think of one?"Aden raises an eyebrow.

"Most likely,"Austin replies.

"What other ways are there?"Aden laughs.

"Well Sapphire is blue. It sounds like fire. Let's just make a fire and take a picture of some blue flames,"I suggest and Aden gives me a amused look. Tess tilts her head but Austin looks interested.

"I don't think it works that way Paige,"Aden says shaking his head.

"Well we could try,"Austin objects Aden. I nod. Thank you Austin! "It is better than bringing back nothing!"He adds and Aden sighs.

"We are going to look like idiots,"Aden complains looking at is like we are all nuts. I think he is the nutty one. I may be clumsy and out of it sometimes but I can think when I need to.

"Have any better ideas?"Tess snaps.

"No, I think we should just think m-

"I want to get this mission done as soon as possible!"Tess exclaims and Austin and I nod agreeing with her. "It better to have something before we go back,"Tess adds and I cross my arms at Aden.

"Whatever, let's just make a fire,"He agrees and I clap.

"I have to say you really do think when we need it even with your clumsy nature,"Tess points and nudges me lightly and I laugh.

"Glad to know that I have brought something to the table,"I nod.

We start to collect some sticks, branches, and anything else fires need. "It's too bad we don't have Shelby or Samuel. A fire would be so much easier,"I comment and they all nod.

"Yeah I don't think these groups made any sense,"Tess laughs.

"Our group is working out so far,"Austin points out.

"That is what you think,"Aden pipes in throwing five more sticks to the collection and then walks back in another direction.

"Fix your attitude!"Austin tells him and Aden rolls his eyes. "Until you think of something better we are doing this respecting the idea." Aden sighs and continue to get fire materials.

"So do any of you know how to make a spark?"Aden asks smiling and wanting us to take defeat. I smirk at him.

"I can shape shift,"I point out and Austin's eyes light up.

"How did we not think about this. Can you turn anything into anything?"He asks and I realize where he is going with this.

"I have never tried, I have kept color similar, but I can try,"I tell him.

"I thought that meant you turn into things,"Tess jokes.

"I did too,"I joke back and we start laughing.

"I am loving this little laugh fest ladies but Paige finish,"Austin nods. I shake my head and not back at him. "Try it,"He says.

"With what?"I ask. We all look around.

"Make my boots sneakers. I stepped in mud anyway,"Tess says pointing to her boots and then Aden and Austin both shake their heads. "What is wrong with that?"She questions.

"We need a bigger jump. Shoes to shoes isn't what we need. Just go ahead and try to change something into sapphire,"Aden suggests. I nod and look for something to use. I look at the purple gem on my bracelet and sigh. "Wait but gem to gem isn't going t-

"Let her, if it works we are done!"Austin slaps Aden lightly.

I continue to think. I have only did this three times so this could become disastrous. I think and start to think of a sapphire. It is a weird process and at first it was confusing but I have to do it. I close my eyes and start to think of sapphire as I put my finger on the purple gem. I take a deep breathe and start to picture the gem morphing into sapphire. I watch as the dark purple turn into a really pretty blue. I open my eyes and look down at my ring.

"Yes!"Tess cheers. I smile as I touch the blue, sapphire, ring.

"I wonder if I can keep this after,"I joke and they all start clapping.

"I can't believe we changed from not having a clue to have what we need in under fifteen minutes!"I say shocked and Tess nods.

"I told you the fire was a dumb idea,"Aden comment. I step on his foot and he clenches his fist and lets out a little wince. "I guess I deserved that,"He nods and I nod back at him and he sighs.

"Yeah you did,"I confirm.

"I am surprised the queen of tripping is the queen of shape shifting some gems,"He teases and I widen my eyes at him.

I slap him. "Shut up,"I say but I can't help but smile. Maybe a group of four really is better than a group of twelve after all. Mrs.Astro was right about that. People work better in smaller groups where they are all share thoughts. I am just so happy I was able to use my power properly. I wonder if Patrick's group even thought about this. We almost missed out the idea for a stupid picture.

"I am proud of us,"Austin smiles.

"So do we just head back?"I ask.

"I guess so."

I look down at my new ring and smile. As much as I loved my purple ring, this blue one is really pretty as well. I might have been joking but I really do want to keep it. It will remind me that I am helpful.
