Chapter 18-School still sucks

Gavin's POV

Autumn and I were walking down to breakfast when we heard a huge thump. I look beside me and Paige lays at the bottom of the stairs with her arms crossed. What happened this time? She is really clumsy, I mean it is okay to be a little fragile but still.

"Paige!"Autumn runs down and helps her up. "Was is the air again?"Autumn jokes and Paige sighs and points to something on the stairs. Someone is having a problem today, pointing to not-

"Gavin, don't keep your shoes on the stairs!"Autumn shouts at me but I can hear in her tone of voice she is trying not to burst out into laughter right about now. I nod and pick them up and bring them upstairs. Something I always hated back home was school. I hated the people, the work, and the teachers were just flat out horrible. I am hoping this can be a new start, and maybe I will feel different.

I place my shoes in my room and than quickly make my way back downstairs where Autumn is still waiting.

"I assisted her with ice because she stubbed her toe as well,"Autumn updates me as I step down the last step. I nod and let out a small laugh.

"That is unfortunate, some people are a little too clumsy,"I respond and I grab my backpack on the chair and she nods. "So who else are we waiting for?"I ask looking around.

"Well Paige took off with Shor. I was just gonna wait for Collin and Gianna. Anybody that really happens to leave at the same time. Some people are still sleeping and Patrick, Shor and Paige are already on there way over,"Autumn explains to me.

"I see. Logan! Want to walk with us?"I say sitting down on the coach next to him and he looks around and smiles.

"Um, sure. Are you leaving now?"He asks sitting up and I shake my head.

"Not unless Collin and Gianna pop up,"I tell him and he keeps standing.

"Oh, then no because I am going now,"He tells me and I give him a confused look. That immediately goes away when I see that Ariel is also exiting out the door. I smirk to myself, not bad dude, not bad. Autumn gives me a very amused look and raises an eyebrow.

"What was that about?"She wonders and I laugh to myself.

"Isn't it obvious? He is head over heels for Ariel,"I laugh and lean back further into the couch. I wonder who else I will encounter with the cupids arrow through them this morning.

"Sonya? Walk?"I ask and she doesn't even respond but gives me a funny look and leaves without a word.

"I tried,"I tell Autumn and she laughs. "Where the heck are Collin and Gianna? Getting Every single breakfast option?"I ask getting a little irritated because I wanted to get there at least twenty minutes early.

"Te-

Autumn smacks her hand against my mouth before I am even able to ask Tess if she wants to walk. That is when I realize that if I would have asked her that it would have been the end of Autumn and I. They apparently still have some rivalry and some things they don't want to talk about.

"Collin! Gianna! Hurry up!"Autumn calls starting to get annoyed now too. Did I set her off or is she just growing impatient? Who knows with her, she can get mad pretty easily sometimes.

"Sorry, I didn't know if I wanted strawberry or mango yogurt,"Gianna apologizes and I sigh and Collin laughs. We head out and begin to walk towards the building we have been dreading since we came here.

"Do you think the teachers are going to be alright?"I question not knowing what to expect.

"After meeting Mrs.Astro....who knows. I mean Mrs.Astro can be annoying but she cares about us,"Gianna shrug and I nod agreeing then turn to Collin.

"What about you? What is your experience with teachers. Mine have been pretty bad,"I admit and Collin shrugs as he takes a sip from his cup of apple juice and looks at me.

"They're alright. All teachers are different to me so you never know what they might be like,"He replies patting me on the back and I nod.

"I mean what kind of student are you?"Autumn asks me nudging me a little bit. This question actually has me wondering and thinking a little bit.

"I do my work, I goof of sometimes but I am not one of those extreme trouble makers,"I honestly state.

"Well then I don't see such a big problem, lots of people goof off,"Gianna shrugs a little confused.

"Yeah well every teacher I ever had either didn't know how to teach or was really strict and had something against guys,"I tell them and Collin nods and laughs a little bit at my last remark. He puts his phone in his backpack after shutting it off.

"Well, that is a whole different problem. Some teachers just think all 16 year old boys are stupid and immature,"Collin points out. Gianna and Autumn both nod agreeing with him. True, people still don't treat men and woman as equal. Some people favor men and others favor woman. I think we are equal because woman have it hard too. I know that because my mom is the one who supported me. My dad was not always around.

"Well we are about to figure out how the teachers are here,"Autumn points to the brick building in front of us. We all look at each other and enter having no idea what to expect. I mean do the other students here have powers too? She was never so clear on what the others students do here.

"Do any of you have any idea what these other kids here do?"I ask.

"Mrs.Astro said they are regular kids. We are just that one group that lives down the road and on campus. That is how she explained it at least,"Gianna explains to me and I nod. So we are the special twenty-four. I feel like that should be the name if a show.

I take out my schedule and my paper with all my "important" information on it. "Well I am gonna go find my locker, so see ya,"I tell them and they nod. I walk into the "b" section and try to find locker 765. When I approach it I see that Aden's is on the other side of the hallway and Crystal's is five over. Wow, they really wanted to spread the special twenty-four out. You know what, it isn't really catching on as much ad I hope it would.

"This school is huge!"Crystal exclaims as she passes by me and I open my locker after my second try.

"Yeah it is! I can see the torture already written on the wall,"I tell her and I hear her laugh as she heads in the direction that I came from.

"Hey, you're a cutie!"I hear behind me and turn to see a girl with blonde hair and pink strikes in it. "I am Cammy!"He greets holding out her hand and I shake it not really wanting to. This girl is going to be a problem.

"Gavin,"I respond not caring. I just want her to leave so I can find my homeroom and get this day over with.

"I like it. Well I will see you around Gavin,"She wiggles her eyebrows and I think my stomach wants to die. My eyes want to die. My whole body wants to crash and die from that sight. I am not used to being harassed by girls or even talked to by them. Usually they try to send me pictures and I am just not about that life.

I enter the room that I need to be in and look around to see if I know anybody. I see Ariel, Shor, and Callie. They don't look to happy to see me. In fac-

"Why are you late?"The teacher asks. What? How is that possible! I didn't even hear a bell ring! This is ridiculous, how did so many people get here so early then. I mean they all left before me, but still this makes no sense.

"It is my first day,"I defend.

"Yeah and it is also their first day,"He says pointing to Shor, Ariel, and Callie.
"No excuses! You have detention after!"He says and I take a random seat. Here we go. I learned one thing so far. You know what that is?

School still sucks.
