Chapter 25-FINALLY GREEN STONE

Patrick POV

I look at every rock I pass carefully looking for and green. Are there green rocks where we are? Are we looking for nothing? This could be the worst plan but I think we are doing decent. I know we aren't doing the best. If we are that is pretty sad because we aren't doing to hot. I step on a twig and look beneath it.

I crouch down and carefully look at one of the stones/rocks, whatever you want to call it. I smile and cheer of happiness as I pick it up and observe it. It a nice color of green.

"I found a a green stone!"I shout and everybody comes running near me. They smile and cheer as they look at the rock and the green color. This is great! We are finally done and we can head back and see if we are first! I think we did this pretty quickly so I don't think we are last at least.

"Nice work!

"Go Patrick!"

"That is what I am talking about!"

"Yes! We can finally be done with this stupid mission!"Crystal cheers not caring about the look Mrs.Astro just shot her. I quietly laugh and cheer.

"That's great and all bu-

"But what? Don't kill vibes Lindsey!"I say and she crosses her arms.

"Do we know our way back?"Lindsey speaks up and we all look between each other. Mrs.Astro doesn't say a work but look between us all.

"I think it was that way,"I say.

"No it wasn't,"Lyla protests. I happen to pay attention pretty well to where we were walking. I nod at her.

"Was it that way then?"I ask pointing into the other direction and she nods.

"Yeah, this way,"Lyla says and start to trust her instinct and follow her.

"I really hope you are right,"Shor says and Lyla shoots him a look and he shuts up and walks over to me.

"This school sucks,"He sighs.

"Why because you aren't with Paige?"I zing and he shoots me a look and slaps me on the shoulder to knock some sense into me. I just smirks.

"Shut up!"He whisper shouts.

"I am sorry. I Ohh that is right! I forgot you don't want people to know you like her!"I say a little louder making the Clayton walk over and Lyla look interested in our conversation.

"Dude shut your mouth!"He yells.

"I can talk to her, we are the same sign,"I smirk a little lower. I am not that cruel. Unfortunately I am known for the one that pukes on shoes so I have to try to change my reputation.

"If you don't stop talking you will be on the top of my prank list!"He shouts.

"Your what list Shor?"Mrs.Astro asks narrowing her eyebrows and he slyly looks back towards me to avoid the question. I watch as she sighs and continues to walk alone behind us all.

"Granny scare you?"Clayton jokes.

"Who?"Mrs.Astro asks raising an eyebrow. Look who is in trouble now.

"My grandmother!"Clayton lies and she nods slowly and I start laughing. My friends are idiots, but I can't say that without calling myself one too.

After twenty minutes of walking we finally see the great school bus, the torture device. We all start running, well, all except Mrs.Astro for obvious reasons. She might break a hip and a lady in pain is always a lot angrier.  

We see that both groups are already there and I sigh. At least we made it back. I guess this proves that even with Mrs.Astro we weren't lucky.

"What took you so long?"

"Shut up!"

"We lost!"

"Man! I thought we were good!"

"I did too my friend, I did too!"

"This sucks!"

"Don't be sad yet guys! I have to judge your "gems/stones" first!"Mrs.Astro says emerging from the forest.

Everybody slowly makes their way towards us and we all take out our "gems." It seems like everyone looked over the gem thing and found their own way of doing things.

"First I want the small group,"She says and I watch as Paige hands her a ring with their Sapphire stone on it.

We watch carefully as she observes it and she writes something down on a piece of paper she got from the bus.

"How did you get this?"Mrs.Astro asks looking carefully as she touched the stone on the ring and smiles.

"We sharp shifted my purple gem into a sapphire,"Paige says and Mrs.Astro smiles and nods approvingly. 

"This gets an eight out of ten,"She says and they all start clapping. That must be hard to beat. "Well done. Next I want to see the big group,"She says and they hand her an earring.

She looks at it carefully and confused. "How did you get this?"She questions.

"....My ears,"Ariel confesses and Mrs.Astro looks at it and then sighs.

"Well  one of the points was to look over the challenge so you get a 6.5,"She scores and they all look at each other and shrug.

"Now for my group,"She says and I hand her the green rock. She smiles and nods at it. Then she smiles. "7 because you overlooked the challenge just a tad bit more by looking for something green,"She says and we all nod and high five each other.

"I think we learned something here,"Mrs.Astro smile and we all look between each other and shrug.

"Take your time?"

"No."

"Don't have Luke!"Tess jokes.

"Hey!"Luke shouts offended.

"Funny, but no,"Mrs.Astro denies.

"Observe your surroundings?"Aden guesses and she nods a little bit.

"That is one but not the one I am looking for. I mean you learn what you learn, I am asking you what you think my point is,"Mrs.Astro clarifies.

"We don't know!"Sonya shouts.

"Sometimes the smaller the group, the more brain power is used."

"How is that possible?"I ask a little bit confused but understanding that this does show that.

"People tend to stand back and let others work when there are bigger groups,"She explains and I nod.

"That makes sense,"I nod.

"I hope so, that was the point,"She laughs. Maybe she isn't too deadly.

"Now apply it to life."
