I woke up early so I could have a shower. I changed into my robes and cast the spell to cover my scars. When I got back out I saw Hermione was still asleep. If she doesn't wake up soon we'll miss breakfast.
"Jonny wake her up would ya?" I asked Jonny, who was sitting on my bed. He nodded and climbed onto her bed. I soon heard screaming. Jonny ran back onto my bed. I looked over at Hermione's bed but she wasn't in there. Then I saw a big, tangled ball of hair emerge from behind the bed. Hermione had fallen off. She was furious. I started laughing along with Jonny.
"Was that really necessary?" Hermione asked.
"I don't know Hermione. Why don't you ask the clock" I said. She looked at the clock and jumped straight up.
"Thankyou Joey" Hermione said rushing around.
"Jonny" I corrected.
"Whatever!" She yelled running around like maniac. "Where are my robes?!?" She yelled. I grabbed them and held them up for her. "Oh" She said. She ran into the bathroom and changed. When she came out her hair was still a mess but it looked like she tried to brush it. "How do I look?" She asked panting.
"Turn around" I ordered. She obeyed. I grabbed my wand and cast a spell to De-Frizz hair. Her hair was now wavy but not frizzy. "There, perfect. Now let's go!" I said. Jonny jumped onto my shoulder.
"You're the best Vee!" She said running down the stairs into the common room.
"Vee?" I asked.
"Yeah, you're new nickname. What you don't like it?" She asked quickly.
"No I love it!" I said. She smiled and we ran down to the Great Hall. We got there just in time. I sat next to Harry and she sat next to Ron. They both blushed when Hermione's hand accidently brushed against Ron's as she sat down. You'd have to be blind not to see that they are madly in love with each other.
"Where have you two been?" Ron asked.
"Why don't you ask her?" I said panting and pointing at Hermione who shrunk in her seat. Harry and Ron both laughed and Dumbledore walked up to the golden Stand.
"Good morning Students. I would just like to wish you all good luck for the new year ahead and a quick reminder about the dementors. Give them no reason to harm you. Enjoy your breakfast and have a pleasant day" Dumbledore said.
"Hey what do you guys have first?" I asked.
"Divination" All three answered in an emotionless voice.
"Same" I said. We ate breakfast and made our way to the divination room. It was strange in there. Cups of tea sat on round tables and the room was over-perfumed. I sat down with Ron and Harry. One look at the teacher and I could already tell she was crazy.
"Well she looks...sane" Jonny said. I chuckled. I zoned out from her little introduction to this class. It was already terrible and we haven't even done anything yet.
"Evangeline! Take the cup" Harry said.
"Oh sorry" I said as I took his cup. "What do I do?" I asked.
"Umm read it???" He said sounding confused.
"Sounds legit" I said. Jonny was now sitting on the table.
"What a load of rubbish" Hermione said. Wait! Hermione wasn't here a second ago???
"Where did you come from?" Ron asked.
"Me? I've been here all this time" Hermione said fixing her robes. I gave her a questioning look and she returned it with an 'I'll tell you later look'.
"You" Professor Trelawny said.
"Me?" I asked. She nodded.
"Yes you. Tell me what you see" She said. I looked into Harry's cup.
"It looks like a...Rabbit? No, no wait it's a...Duck? No! sheep? Cow? Fox? Wait......It looks like a... a dog? But from this angle it looks like a panther. I give up it's some kind of animal." I said as Jonny was laughing at me. "Oh shh" I said.
"Give me the cup" She ordered. I handed it to her. She looked inside and threw it back on the table almost hitting Jonny.
"Hey! Watch it you crazy old bit-" Jonny started.
"Jonathan!" I scolded. He looked at me.
"Well she is" He said.
"If you like you could go back to the common room" I threatened.
"No, I'm-I'm good here" Jonny said.
"Then be quiet" I said. He nodded.
"My dear......you have the Grim" Professor Trelawny said. Someone read out what the Grim was.
"Taking the form of a large spectral dog. It's one of the darkest omens of our time. It's the omen...of death" Some boy read out.

We were walking to Care of Magical Creatures which I must say I am super excited about. Why? Because it's all about animals!! Yay! It was a silent trip until Ron brought up about that thing in Divination.
"You don't think that Grim thing has anything to do with Sirius Black do you?" Ron asked.
"Oh honestly Ron!" Hermione started. I started talking to Jonny so I didn't hear the rest of that conversation.
"Use your inner eye aye? Well I got 8 eyes so I should rock at that" Jonny joked. I laughed.
"I'm so changing out of that class if I can" I said.
"Good coz I am not accompanying you to that class anymore" Jonny said.
"I said if I can" I said. We finally made it down to Hagrid's Hut.
"Tha's it, c'mon now. Come closer. Less talking if yeh don't mind" Hagrid said. "I've gotta real treat for yeh t'day. Follow me" We all followed Hagrid into the Forbidden Forest. "Alright less chattering. Form a group ov'r there. Open your books to page 49"
"Just exactly how do we do that?" Malfoy asked. I knew. I stroked down the spine and it opened up.
"Just stroke the spine, of course. It's not that difficult" I said making Malfoy angry. Watching people attempt to open their books was rather entertaining. Neville's book tried to eat him.
"Oh yeah. Then you do it" Malfoy said. I snatched his book out of his hands and stroked the spine and it opened right up. I flashed him a forced smile and chucked the book back at him.
"I think they're funny" Hermione said, referring to the books.
"Oh yeah, terribly funny" Malfoy sneered. "Really witty. God this place has gone to the dogs. Wait till my father hears that Dumbledore's got this oaf teaching classes" Malfoy said and his minions laughed.
"Shut up Malfoy" Harry said. Malfoy walked towards Harry but then stopped and looked past him.
"D-D-Dementor! Dementor!" He yelled. Everyone spun their heads around only to see nothing. Malfoy and his goons were laughing. They flipped their hoods up and walked slowly towards Harry making ghost like sounds. I shot Malfoy daggers as I grabbed Harry's sleeve and pulled him away. Hagrid cleared his throat to grab everyone's attention.
"Ta-dah" He said. Then a grey creature came out from behind the trees with a horse body and an eagle head. "Isn't he beau'iful? Say hello to Buckbeak."
"Hagrid? Exactly what is that?" Ron asked.
"That, Ron, is a Hippogriff. Firs' thin' yeh want ter know about Hippogriffs they're very proud creatures, very easily offended. Yeh do not want to insult a Hippogriff. It may just be the las' thin' yeh ever do. Now, who'd like to come an' say hello?" Hagrid asked everyone. I was trying to hide my massive smile but failing. Hagrid turned back around to face the class.
"Well done Harry an' Evangeline. Lucky there's two 'ere" Hagrid said. I turned to see everyone had taken a huge step back leaving me and Harry up the front. "there's the other. Ov'r there" Hagrid said pointing over to a tree and behind it was another Hippogriff that looked the same but shiny black that almost looked blue.
"Her names Midnight" Hagrid said.
"She's beautiful" I breathed.
"Thought you'd like 'er" Hagrid said. "Alright" He said to both me and Harry and the rest of the class. "Yeh have ter let them make the firs' move. It's only polite. Step up, give 'em a nice bow an' wait ter see if they bow back. An' if they do, yeh can go and touch 'em" Hagrid explained. "If not, well, we'll get to tha' la'er" I slowly walked up to Midnight. She truly was beautiful. I decided to watch Harry first. He bowed low and Buckbeak stared flapping his wings.
"Back off Harry, back off" Hagrid said. "Keep still, Keep very still" Buckbeak ruffled his feathers and slowly bowed back. "Well done Harry, Well done. Now it's your turn Evangeline" Hagrid said. I nodded my head and slowly bowed towards Midnight, not breaking eye contact with her. She bowed back almost instantly.
"Excellent, Excellent. Now you's can go pat 'em now. Go on, don't be shy" Hagrid said. I slowly walked up to Midnight with my hand stretched out ready to pet her. She snapped her beak a little making me jump. I let her close the distance between us. She nuzzled her head against my hand and I smiled broadly. I looked over to see Harry patting Buckbeak.
"Great job you too, great job" Hagrid praised and clapped and so did the class. "I think they may let you ride them now" Hagrid said walking over to us both.
"What!?" We both exclaimed in unison. Hagrid picked us both up flung Harry onto Buckbeak's back and me on Midnight's. "Don't pull put any feathers coz they won't thank yer for tha'" Hagrid said as he slapped both Midnight and Buckbeak's back legs making them start running and soon took off into the air. I screamed as we left the ground. We were soon over the treetops and flying towards the castle. I was holding on for dear life. We flew around the towers and over towards the Black lake. The wind felt amazing against my face. My hair was blowing around but I didn't care. Midnight lowered so we were only inches from the water. I leaned over and ran my hand through the water as we flew. She flew up towards the sky.
"Come on, let's go higher" I said.
"Higher? You want to go higher?" Midnight asked.
"Yes please" I said. She shook her head, laughing, but rose even further into the sky. We were now above the clouds. The sight was absolutely breath taking.
"WEEEEEEEEEEEEW!!!!!" I screamed.
"Let your arms go" Midnight said. I was holding tightly around her neck
"What?! Are you insane?!?!" I screamed.
"Just do it. I won't let anything happen to you I promise" She assured.
"Okay" I said still a little unsure. I slowly lifted my arms up and straight out like wings letting the wind rustle my hair and my robes flow behind me. I felt like I was flying on my own. "This is incredible!" I yelled over the wind. She laughed. We flew a little longer then I heard a whistle.
"Time to go down now" She said.
"No, I don't want to go down" I said.
"Well if you're lucky, you may get another ride sometime" Midnight said. She flew back down to where the class was and landed a few feet from where she started. Everyone was clapping once I landed and I saw Harry land just after me. I jumped off Midnight and patted her head.
"Thankyou so much for the ride" I thanked.
"My pleasure" She said. The class was still clapping and praising both Harry and I when Malfoy stood up.
"Oh, please" Malfoy said pushing through a group of students. "Well, you're not dangerous at all are you? You great ugly brute" Malfoy said walking towards Buckbeak. Oh no! Buckbeak stood on his hind legs and scratched Malfoy's arm but before he could do major damage I jumped in front of him, pushed Malfoy out of the way and Buckbeak accidently hit me knocking me to the ground.
"I am so sorry. Why did you step in front of that wretched boy?" Buckbeak said calming down.
"I-I don't know" I said pushing myself off the ground. I honestly didn't know why I did. I hated his guts, why would I try and save him.
"It's killed me, it's killed me" Malfoy repeated over and over, rolling on the ground.
"Calm down, calm down. It's just a scratch" Hagrid said but it was clear in his voice that he was panicking.
"Hagrid, he has to be taken to the hospital. Same with Evangeline" Hermione said. I looked down at my arm and saw blood seeping through my robes, I hadn't even noticed. Buckbeak came up and nuzzled my good arm.
"I truly am sorry" He said.
"It's no biggie. I've been through worse besides, it was an accident" I said. Hagrid picked up Malfoy up and gestured for me to follow. Malfoy was still mumbling things like 'I can see the light' and 'God, is that you?' and 'When my father hears about this' I rolled my eyes. My wound was far worse than his. He was such a drama queen.
"You're gonna regret this! You and your bloody chicken!" Malfoy said. We made it to the Hospital wing.
"My goodness what happened?" Madam Pomfrey asked.
"Just a little accident during class. Didn't listen to instructions and got himself hurt" I said glaring at the moaning boy lying on the bed.
"And what about you dear?" She asked looking at my arm.
"She was the one tha' saved him" Hagrid said.
"Alright sit down. I'll have you fixed up in no time" She said. I obeyed and she rubbed some cream on my arm and wrapped it up in a bandage. "There you should be good to go in a few hours as long as you don't use your arm too much" She said. "Come back and see me if it causes any distress"
"Thankyou" I said smiling.
"No worries darling" She said and went to tend Malfoy. It was going to be an awkward few hours alone with Malfoy after Madam Pomfrey left. I hope Harry or Hermione grabbed my books and Jonny after class. I was sitting on the bed when I spotted Malfoy staring at me out of the corner of my eye.
"What are you looking at?!" I spat. He looked like he blushed a bit but no, that was probably just my imagination.
"Something ugly" He spat back. I rolled my eyes and turned my head to look out the window.

~Malfoy's P.O.V~
I watched as Madam Pomfrey tended Blackbourn's wounds. I can't believe she stepped in front of me today after that...thing tried to kill me. I guess I should probably thank her. Madam Pomfrey was now over tending my wound. I didn't realise I was staring at Blackbourn. She is...quite decent looking I suppose. One might even say beautiful. Her hair is like fire and her eyes like chocolate. What am I saying?!? I think I hit my head or something. Madam Pomfrey had left and I was still unknowingly staring at Blackbourn.
"What are you looking at?!" She snapped. I can tell she still hates my guts. I felt a blush creep on my cheeks but managed to say something back.
"Something ugly" I said. But that was a lie. She wasn't ugly at all. She rolled her eyes and looked out the window. I really wanted to ask why she saved me and thank her but I couldn't find my voice so I just sat quiet for the next few hours slyly sneaking glances at her without her noticing.
